The calibration solutions are sealed and can be stored at room temperature until they are opened and used for the first time - then refrigeration is recommended so they stay "fresh and accurate". The storage solutions are a MUST for any PH/ORP and other meters that have a tip that cannot dry out. This will extend the life of the probe for maximum amount of life of probe (no pre-mature failures under normal operating conditions and care in cleaning of delicate glass tip).I bought this as part of a package offered by Amazon containing the same brand Professional PH Meter, the optional Extra Probe (total 2 probes, 1 meter), the meter came with 6 packets (2 of each type) calibration crystals for 4, 7, and 10.04 calibration solutions when mixed with 220 ml of distilled water for each. This calibration/storage solution kit was offered at a discount with the Meter w/extra probe so I decided to get this kit. It is an excellent product even if you already have a PH meter because the solutions are of excellent quality and at 50ml each x 3 (calibration) and 2 x 10ml KCL probe tip storage solution - you are getting more than enough - also comes with a temperature vs PH measurement chart which shows you how at extreme temperatures, high or low, how your PH meter measurement may need to be adjusted manually to get a true measurement as temperature does affect the way a PH meter measures PH.
