You do need to let the heat do the work for you and not force it. Can not comment on the durability of it yet but I think it will work for basic projects.

Amazing Tool
Wow. This item works great. Just arrived today 11/5/20, and already using to complete project work in organizing floral picks. Use thick styrofoam to hold small picks and took no time to trim and cut to accommodate rack organizer. Love it.

Works as advertised
Tested this out on 4" thick regular white styrofoam and it cut nice and clean. You do have to be mindful of the speed at which you try to cut. You do need to let the heat do the work for you and not force it. Can not comment on the durability of it yet but I think it will work for basic projects.

Not very sturdy
This product works ok. The blade is removable and doesn't stay attached to the handle very well. I would have to stop every few minutes and push it back in or the blade stops heating. Once it just fell off in the middle of a cut. Giving the choice I wouldn't buy this one again, I would spend a little more money for a better quality item.

A recommend tool, but within limits on the density and thickness of the foam.
We used this to custom size a 6” thick memory foam mattress for our travel trailer. It ultimately did the job, but with great effort, and the result was unsightly. The tool is just too light weight for foam that dense and thick. We broke the first “hot blade” thingy about half way through the task. Thank goodness it came with replacement part! I look forward to trying it again, as I think it would work beautifully on thinner and/ or less dense foam.

Excellent Tool
It's been quite a while since I purchased this electric knife. However, I feel I have used it more than my tooth brush. I have cut dense foam for storing all of my Camera equipment. And used it to fabricate Styrofoam supports for photo shoots. It heats up and cools down quickly, cuts quite precisely, and can be cleaned off with a quick swipe of a cotton sock (and sometime a shirt tail, when needed). The price is right for the quality and accessories it provides.

Poor performance and no durability.
The "wand" is way too bendy and flexible and always felt like it was going to break if I applied anything more than minuscule pressure (which is less than the weight of my hand). That made things REALLY slow and because it's so bendy it's hard to make accurate cuts. The wand kinda bends in whatever direction it wants. Aaand yeah it broke anyway despite my efforts to use it gently. Yes it comes with a replacement wand but I don't even want to continue using the product because it's very frustrating to handle and the results are bad. I give this rating taking into consideration the price as well. Yes it was cheap, but this is nearly unusable.

Great tool for the job
This is the best item for foam. I was nervous that it would be junk because it is light and looks fragile. But this wand gets hot and fast. I used it to help cut my daughter's name out of styrofoam
