Being multicut variety,Coimbatore by interspecific hybridization followed by pedigree method of selection (TNS 30 Γ— S. sudanense). COFS31 / COFS-31 gives 5–6 cuts in one year at 60 days intervals. COFS31 / COFS-31 leaves and stem is highly succulent in nature. COFS31 / COFS-31 contains high protein (8.41%) and less crude fibre (34.0%). COFS31 / COFS-31 attains 50% flowering in 65–70 days and ready for seed harvest in 105–110 days. COFS31 / COFS-31 variety is recommended for cultivation in Tamil Nadu under irrigated conditions. COFS31 / COFS-31 plants are 220– 250 cm tall with 2.5–3.0 cm stem girth, having 10–15 tillers per plant.
