Great bottle warmer - not as convenient as it should be in 2 significant respects
This bottle warmer is great, provided you use Philips Avent bottles. Don't try to use it with narrower bottles (like the ones that came with our Ameda pump or the ones we brought home from the hospital). In order for it to heat properly, it is critical that you use the right size bottle to ensure the right amount of surface area and water displacement in the warming bath - and this unit uses very little water (for quicker more efficient heating). The instructions don't mention this.Second, and most lamentable is that it is hard to see where the water level comes up to on the bottle being warmed which makes it nearly impossible to follow the written instruction to fill the bath up to the level of the milk in the bottle. For the sake of efficient heating, when you put an Avent bottle into this unit, there is very little space between it an the interior walls of the warming bath area. Hence, you have to look down at a steep angle into the tiny gap between wall and bottle and try to guess if the water is at the same level as the milk. This is irritating, but not such a problem that I would trade it for a different unit. I just wish there were a tall and narrow little window on the front through which I could see the water level and the milk level in the bottle so I could match them up. Not so much to ask, but I guess that's more parts and more places for it to leak. So, I continue to squint down into that narrow crack and take my best guess at the water/milk level. Also, it could use a little handle on the side to hold it by when pouring out water - e.g., if you warm a full bottle you put in a certain amount of water - then later if you want to warm a half-full bottle, you have to pour some water out. You don't always want to unplug the whole thing and pick it up with two hands and carry it to the sink to do this. I usually just pour it into the same Pyrex I use to measure the water to fill it up. It is hard to grab the unit with one hand to pour it out - and people warming milk bottles frequently only have one hand free. So add a handle, people.

Great for the price!
This has been a great purchase for me! The price was great. It warms the milk up fast! I just prefer it over the hot water in a bowl technique. I just get a small container of water, but the bottle in, and fill in some water. For the hot water in a bowl technique I found myself running water for a very long time to keep the bowl hot and it seems to always take a really long time for that bottle to warm up.Two issues:One- it won’t let you know when the bottle is ready. It’ll just keep warming it and warming it. To a point where if you forget, it’ll make it very hot!Two- it doesn’t work for all bottles. But read on to see how I solved these problems for myself!I now always set a timer for the milk, and I use a normal thermometer to dip in and check the temp! Easy enough...The bottles not fitting. I use the playtex drop in liner bottles. And they really don’t fit well. But, I pump. And I store my milk in freezer milk bags or the bottles that came with my breast pump. And those fit perfectly fine! So I just warm the milk in those. And once they reach the right temp, I transfer to the bottle! So, no, the thing is not fool proof, but it works and I’m perfectly happy with this product! Haven’t used it for anything other than milk yet. I saw you can warm baby food as well.

Great Thermostic Controlled Hide Glue Heater
This warmer is controlled by a thermostat that works quite well, and if turned full "on" will get quite hot. It heats up very fast, like the vintage "Hot Shot" water heaters for beverages. I used a Taylor digital probe type thermometer to test it out for heating and maintaining luthiers Hide glue at 150 degrees F.The water bath, filled to the internal fill line with room temp water, reached 150 degrees in 2:46 and 170 in 5 minutes. Added a glass Avent Brand 4 oz baby bottle filled to 5 ounces with the nipple attached. Starting with tap water, found the 150 and 160 degree position of the controller knob at about the 1 and 2 O'clock positions respectively and marked the positions with a pencil line. The warmer heated the water in the bottle to 150 degrees in 15:45 minutes and maintained it very well. Using the glass baby bottle adds thermal mass that helps regulate the temperature of the water extremely close to the "set" temperature. And the lid (with nipple) even acts as a pressure release. I just marked the 150 and 160 degree settings with a sharpie. 150 degrees will be right in the middle. This should be a very good, fast Hide glue warmer and should be great for baby bottle warmer if one reads the instructions. It will work fantastic for a Hide glue pot, heating the glue in the Avent baby bottle.
