It works either way, but I think it makes sense to install it so the door opens up--since gravity will try to bend the connecting hose down.

What are the specs of the mounting screws?

Center to center screws are 3 7/8" apart. Beyond that, not sure what you want as to 'specs'...?

In the 3rd picture of the inlet there is something in the center of the inlet pipe hole where vacuum is inserted. My current inlet is just a hole?

In the 3rd picture, you are looking at the inlet from the back side, so what you see is just the reinforcement design on the back side of the (closed) inlet door. Has zero effect on whether this item will work with your vacuum hose.
