Installed per the instructions, booting from the usb device. files load onto the computer. after that, nothing happens. dell computer, windows xp.

On my computer (Lenovo laptop), the software boots; however, No hard drive is displayed to wipe, when asked which drive to clear.

I bought a “lot” of school laptops from auction. I have No password for any. How would I use this device without user or admin password?

power down the laptop, press power, quickly press shift and F2 keys in succession until you enter bios, select boot order,(Destruct key), at that point the laptop should boot from the key allowing you to erase the entire hard drive. Depending on the laptop some may be assigned F11 to enter bios. If none of these work you will need software to reveal passwords.

does this device do DoD wiping?

You can boot it for legacy, UEFI and Secure Boot. I'm not sure about DoD, but this is a very good tool. It will wipe your hard drive. Hope this helps.

Bios password locked? Will this bypass this?

No! the key is designed to scrub the hard drive only, it will have no effect on bios locked. there are two possible solutions, contact the manufacture providing you are the original owner, option two, go on eBay to see if there is a third-party software alternative.
