孫のクリスマスプレゼントのリクエストでした。私の住んでる界隈のおもちゃ屋さんでは店頭に無く､孫のリクエストに応じられ良かったです。喜んで遊んでくれてます。 以前違うサイトで買ったおもちゃは丸わかり状態で配達されてサプライズにならず残念な事があったので配達もきちんとダンボールに入っていて良かったです。

2023 Mattel Jurassic World Dino Trackers “Wild Roar” Irritator 2023 seems to be the year of the Irritator. A recent paper on the animal gave us new insights into its anatomy, and Mattel releases not one, but two completely new Irritator figures! This latest version may just be the most visually striking sculpt of the three Irritator figures Mattel has released. It’s a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the detail, however. In some areas, the detailing rivals that of the more expensive Hammond Collection version, and in others, it falls completely flat. I absolutely love the head sculpt. The entire head is covered in beautiful pebbly scales. The scale details are crisp. The nostrils are sculpted nice and deep. There is some beautiful wrinkling below the eyes. The skull isn’t nearly as shrink wrapped as the original Irritator from 2020’s Primal Attack line. I love the way the jaws interlock, and the presence of the iconic hooked upper jaw. That hook was one detail that the recent Hammond Collection version lacked. There is a head crest, but it doesn’t appear to have a keratinous texture like the crest on the Hammond version. It’s also quite a bit thicker than that one. The head is quite a bit bulkier than either of the previous versions. The inside of the mouth has some excellent detailing as well. The tongue is quite thick, and has a great bumpy texture. Even the upper palate is nicely sculpted. It’s just a shame that you don’t have the option to display it with the mouth open so you can show off those details. The neck is a bit thick. A small sail structure begins at the base of the skull, and runs down the neck. The neck is covered in a pebbly scalation, but the details are a little bit less crisp here. There are some large osteoderms running down the sides of the neck, and there are large, bulging veins running down each side of the throat. A large dewlap hangs along the bottom of the throat, but it appears to have a sail-like structure similar to the one on the back. The details of the body and tail become much finer, yet are also more crisp than those of the neck. The scales are a very tiny, pebbled texture. There are many osteoderms scattered across the back of the Irritator, and a larger sail runs along the spine. The scales of the sail are flat and hexagonal. I love how wrinkly the skin is along the sides. The pebbled scales, and wrinkly skin reminds me a lot of monitor lizards. The underside is the most disappointing area of the entire figure. There is very little texturing anywhere along the underside. The throat is the only part of the bottom with any scale detail at all. Thankfully, the underside is rarely seen. The limbs are very muscular, especially the arms. The arms are particularly large, and feel a bit too bulky. The arms and legs all feature the same tiny pebbled scales of the main body, and both set sets of limbs feature osteoderms along the top. The hands feel a bit oversized, but the feet are actually nicely proportioned. They’re still a little bit oversized, but they aren’t giant clown shoes. One thing I am super happy to see is the enlarged claws on the first fingers of the hands. This large claw is an adaptation for fishing, and is present in most, if not all, spinosaurids. This claw was missing from both previous Irritators, so it is a most welcome addition here! The tail is the most unique, and visually striking aspect of this new Irritator! All three of Mattel’s Irritator figures feature finned tails. However, this one takes it to the most extreme, and I love it for it! The spines along the tail are higher than anywhere else on the figure. The textures are the same as those seen on the body, but the larger, hexagonal scales along the sail are much more obvious on the tail fin. I very much prefer this tail to any of the other Irritator figures. It is a common theme with Spinosaurid figures to feature crocodile inspired scales. But that isn’t the case with this one. It’s so refreshing to see a Spinosaurid without crocodilian scalation! Articulations are the standard for the “Wild Roar” figures. The arms and legs can move forward and back. The arms can swing out wide, and the legs can pivot outward slightly too. The tail is articulated as well, but only does a pointless rotation. This figure, in particular, would have benefited greatly from having side to side movements. All other movements are tied to the action gimmick. The action features are the same as all of the other “Wild Roar” carnivore figures. Rocking the switch along the back causes the head to tilt, and the dinosaur to roar. Tilting it further causes different roars, and for the dinosaur to open its mouth. It’s one of the better action gimmicks Mattel has done, but I personally still prefer the switches of the Dino Escape line. The coloration and paint apps are some of the best Mattel has done for the main line this year! The Irritator is given the aquatic biome, and this one would definitely feel right at home in a swamp! I love the contrasting light and dark colors. I very much appreciate the color design here. The only nitpick I have is the way the sail color transitions at the tail. The rest of the tail color transition is handled beautifully, but the sail part just suddenly switches colors without any blending. If there had just been a bit of that lighter brown on the very beginning of the tail spine, it would have been perfect. I also appreciated the fact that there is some paint applied to the legs. All of the smaller details are well painted too. The teeth are nicely done, as is the interior of the mouth. The eyes are painted well also, but there is one oddity. The right eye has a black outline that looks a bit like eyeliner, but it’s missing on the left eye. I’m not sure if this is how all of the figures are, or if it’s just a quality control issue with my particular figure. All I know is, i much prefer the eyeliner side. It helps the eye to really pop. I honestly cannot decide which of the new Irritator figures I like best. Both are excellent in their own way. Both have their positives and negatives, and despite looking quite different, they still managed to look great together. This “Wild Roar” Irritator is an incredible addition to the Jurassic family, and is easily one of the best figures Mattel has produced for Dino Trackers!
