how do you tell if its at low battery?

The logitech gaming software shows, and the mouse itself blink red when the battery is less than 30%. Honestly... i using for hundreads of hours until now on overwatch and still up. Performance wise... the best lightweight mouse in the market. By far the best sensor.

is the 12 gram weight difference from the g pro noticeable?

You can knock off around 10 grams by using a lithium AAA with a AAA to AA sleeve. It does make a good bit of difference and I highly suggest it.

What is the material on the sides of the mouse?--smooth plastic, rubber?

Plastic, but not smooth. There is a fine texture on those surfaces.

Can Unifying this mouse g305 with other Logitech keyboard wirelses?

This mouse is not compatible with Logitech's unifying receivers. This mouse uses Logitech's lightspeed technology which is different than the technology behind the unifying receivers.

I was so happy with this mouse that I bought a second one to use at work! It's not very fancy for a gaming mouse (no RGB and only 3 extra buttons), but I don't care. I use it for gaming (first person shooters and strategy) and for work and I am very pleased with the weight, battery life, and accuracy. It is definitely a claw-grip style mouse as it is not very big/wide.
