Expensive and just not worth it to me.
Great in theory but does not turn out as pictures and descriptions describe. I bought the dark brown hoping to extend the need to fully color my roots. I attempted 3 times. The first time I left the product on for the suggested time and it left me with a very light color and horrible hot spots. Next I left on for 10 minutes longer. It gave more color pay (still not a dark brown, more of a medium brown) off but still hot spots. Next attempt I left the product on 20 minutes longer than advised and I ended with a red brown color. It never went to a true dark brown and leans towards red. Because I have very dark brown hair, the color and tone it deposited wasn’t even close and I had to immediately recolor with my normal permanent color which I should have just done to begin with! There is no mixing with this product which saves time but in the long run, it took much more time after multiple applications and then having to mix my professional permanent color and do a full color on my roots. Thankfully that covered any color pay off from the semi permanent color I purchased. This may work for someone with lighter hair color that doesn’t have any warm tones. I will save my money next time and forgo a semi permanent color. It did take a very large amount of product to cover just my roots and wasn’t ver easy to spread evenly therefore I couldn’t see someone getting more than two uses. I had to use two for 3 applications on normal thickness hair. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone with brown or black hair for sure but maybe a blonde. I didn’t notice any horrible smell but It does stain so be careful and don’t let it dry on your sink, shower walls, tiles or grout. If you do, scrub immediately!

Amazing Product
I have used many color depositing masks and I must say this is the best one by far. First of all, it is nice and thick so it stays on your hair, without having to worry about it dripping everywhere. It also has such a nice smell. I had faded highlight, and my hair was feeling dry from heat appliances. I used this mask and I could not believe the results. It darkened my hair and left it so soft and smooth, with my highlights still showing in the light. It looked even better once I curled my hair. It left such shine and really brought my hair back to life. I will be using this regularly!

pretty much just like pictured, for 3 days. Very FUN!
I got the 8oz Espresso brown conditioner. First 2 pictures are my natural hair (I did not bleach or change it before adding the conditioner, so what you see is dye over that exact color.) The 2nd two pics are the day after I dyed it. The 3rd two pics are 7 days after I dyed it. I did two pics each for different lighting. In the last two pics you can see that it fades reddish, but in bluer lighting it looked chocolate brown. This was so fun to test out dark hair on me. It lasted as that gorgeous rich dark color (see pics 3&4) for about 3 days if I'm being generous, and I don't wash my hair every day. I was it every other day at most. I have fine hair and its about shoulder length, I was able to dye my hair with this stuff twice. It feels almost like a thin clay going on, and has a strong smell. MY HAIR WAS SO THICK, SOFT, AND BOUNCY THE DAY AFTER DYEING IT!!!! IT WAS AWESOME! I got tons of compliments, lots of people said my hair looked much thicker. Also, if it gets on your skin it'll dye it purple for a day lol. I dyed my eyebrows too and it did great, just keep it off of skin you don't want to look like is part of you eyebrow. This stuff definitely has more of a reddish tint so expect it to fade kinda red. My hair naturally has a TINY bit of red in it if ANY. It's naturally very much a true dirty blonde color. Its worth it for the money if you're getting it to TRY a color or use for a cosplay/costume. but it does not last as the color advertised for very long. I had red hair for like a month tho after lol. So it stayed like the last two pics for a whileee. and my hair is very porous and has a history of holding onto temporary dyes for much longer than they say it will. took down one star just bc it didn't last long enough for me, but it was still a very fun experience!

Direct dye - deposits color but has a red/warm undertone
If you are unfamiliar with direct dyes, they essentially coat the surface of the hair. The more porous your hair is, the more dye is deposited, but that isn't to say direct dyes won't work on healthy or low-porosity hair. I have done a two-step henna/indigo process on my new growth for several years since I started to get gray hairs at my roots along where I part my hair (manual manipulation and heat styling means I have a row of grays in one distinct place on my head). Henna isn't a direct dye, but the dying properties (lawsone) in henna have an affinity for keratin in the hair, so henna coats the hair shaft. Indigo is a natural direct dye, and it works over henna. Orange red (henna) + blue (indigo) = brown, give or take. Henna has the benefit of making hair appear shinier and feel healthier, but the downside is it takes 4 hours, a lot rinsing, and a follow up indigo 30 minutes and more rinsing. I bought this to try and cheat between henna/indigo treatments. If you are warm toned and don't mind your dark brown having strong red undertones, this is a great choice. It offers full gray coverage. I have a very pale olive complexion, and my hair is naturally very dark ash brown (eyebrows are almost jet black), so this just made my hair look like some of the darkest henna stains I have had (different henna from different parts of the world stains differently, but there are no henna "colors"). I was looking for a more neutral brown, and from what I have read online, Overtone tends to skew warm, so this was a miss. Positives include short processing time, full gray coverage, and zero damage (although direct dyes are not supposed to damage hair, I have found a few of the salon brand direct dyes to be very drying). Your mileage may vary!

Love! Wish it lasted longer.
I love the color! However, it does fade rather quickly for the price. Overall, I would recommend!
