Das Para 3 ist ein geniales Messer, das steht außer Frage. Hier erwirbt man einen lebenslangen Begleiter.

Super nice knife. The blackout version has a great look. It’s very sharp, comfortable in hand and the action is quick and easy. Compression lock is good as always. I often see this knife compared to the Sage 5 and people tend to recommend that one. I have both having gotten a sage 5 first on those recommendations but to me I like the para 3 better (both are great in any case)

Many will object to my comment that the Para 3 Lightweight is Spyderco’s best design but based on use, it is perfect. In my case, as a daily pocket carry, it’s one of my favorites in my collection. The lightweight version has the great, deep wire clip plus, it’s thinner and lighter in the pocket than the G-10 version. Also, I have a G-10 Spyderco and it starts to wear pockets a lot faster. I really like the way the deep, wire clip makes the knife almost disappear in my pocket. The CTS BD1N seems to be a good steel. There is a great article “CTS BD1N is not BD1.” The Nitrogen seems to add corrosion resistance to an already good blade steel. Google it to make you own decision on it. As for fidget factor, 10. Edge retention, 8. Looks, 10. Pocket clip, 10. Spyderco has build a great reputation and this knife upholds that reputation and I am very, very happy to have made the purchase.

I left my older model at cabin I stayed in for about an hour, and when i came back for it, it had ran away with another. I can’t blame who ever adopted it; the knife was solid. This knife is good but the plastic handle is much lighter weight and the belt clip is wire versus a solid metal clip. Don’t get me wrong, for the price, this knife is good and i use it everyday; blade stays sharp and its single handed opening n the back side of the blade is essential. I do wish I had my older model since it felt higher quality to me. I’ll keep searching and hoping my older one decides to come home….

I purchased this knife at the same time as got the new Benchmade Bugout. With a couple of add ons my Bugout cost north of a buck fifty. This Spiderco Para 3 is in my pocket twice as often as the Bugout, mainly due to the feel of control the grip and blade alignment both provide. I have 5 Spiderco knives ranging from $45 to $210 and this is the one I'm keen on now. Granted, the two most expensive ones are collectables and not for edc, and the Para 3 is still kinda new, it just has more fidget features (take the locking mechanism) and practicalities. There are some nits to pick here though. The edge is easy enough to hone back to razor sharp, but I find having to do this more often than I'd like. I love the black with black blade look, but the blade shows scratches in stark contrast. I've rubbed out some, but still, as rough as I am it won't look pristine for long. Which is ok by me. Finally, and this might be asking too much for a sub $100 knife, I'd like to see the scales chamfered on the inside. As is they are quite sharp and without dismantling it would be difficult to fix. Next time I clean it I'll give the belt sander a go at those sharp parts. Not sure how the FRN will do but I'll start slowly by hand to test. All in all I am enjoying this great knife as my current favorite edc. I'll update herein if or when it loses it dominance.
