There would be approximately 8 cups of granules in a 4 pound container. A 10 pound container would have approximately 20 cups of product.

I have three large oaks with big diameters. One 65, 70, 75. I much of this do I need to spread around each tree?

First of all, make sure you measure the tree "circumference" at a height of 4.5 feet above the ground. Secondly, you list your measurements as diameters. If these are truly 65, 70 and 75 inch diameters, the circumferences these would equate to 204 inches, 220 inches and 236 inches respectively and your trees are large enough to be considered national, or at least regional treasures. If your tress are 65, 70 and 75 inches "around the tree" at 4.5 feet off the ground, which is the measurement needed to calculate the application rate, the amounts to spread around each tree, in "cups" (at the rate of 1/4 cup per inch of circumference) are: 16.25 cups for the 65 inch tree 17.50 cups for the 70 inch tree and 18.75 cups for the 75 inch tree. The granules are to spread around 2 feet out from the trunk of the tree. I imagine it will take at least a month from the first rain after application for protection to begin for your trees so this will need to be completed soon. I'm guessing that each 10 pounds of this material is packaged in a container that is around one gallon in volume so at 16 cups per gallon you will need at least three containers of granules to treat your trees. Expensive, but trees this size are becoming less common and are a valuable addition to your landscape and add greatly to the value of your home. If you are indeed reporting diameters, the application rates would be 54, 55 and 59 cups respectively for the calculated circumferences your trees.
