I love this product. I can make it when I need. Tastes great. And I'm not throwing it out because it expired.

(Edit: Adding 2 stars: 1 star because I bought again and that one arrived sealed / undamaged, even though it was the same insufficient packaging as before. The 2nd added star is because it’s the best powdered milk I’ve ever had, and I keep coming back to buy it even with the terrible packaging, making the gamble that the order will arrive sealed and foodsafe… because the milk itself really is THAT good.) The quality of the powdered milk itself is very good — IF it remains in the thin, zip-tied bag they ship it in. Unfortunately, the heat-sealed seam forming the bottom of the bag splits open inside the cardboard box as it makes its way through the postal system to you. Then your food product is no longer sanitary, and much of it is spilled and lost. I would totally buy this product again if they fix their severe packaging problem. The price is great and the milk itself is excellent.

25 lbs of powder = 20 gallons of whole milk with the milkfat/flavor u want for cooking/baking... Non-Fat dried milk is much lower cost but you'll get what you pay for in less flavor and versitility... 4.5 cups of powder to a gallon of warm water = 1 gallon milk... We got 20 bags worth from this @ $9 gal... We vacuum bag 4.5 cups per bag with our Foodsaver for long term storage in a 12 gallon light proof tote... Dark basement for cool storage and tote to keep out pests... Heat and Sunshine Is Not Good For Storage... Will buy again. Quickly shipped. Well Packaged But NOT Vacuum Packed... The Good: I started buying bulk after buying some of their smaller sealed containers and found the product to be of a reasonably high quality. It mixes into a very tasty powdered milk and forms a creamy upper layer that I'd expect from a decent quality powdered whole milk. Fair warning, it does takes a bit more effort to mix cleanly without forming clumps but I believe that may be to do with the full fat content... I've just started making it in the blender for a couple secs and the end result is a clean fully dissolved milk. The Bad: Despite others being OK with Hoosiers bulk shipping practices, I can absolutely assure you their current practice does not adhere to food industry standards and neither should consumers be accepting these sub-standard practices just "because it's bulk product". To be clear about this, I have no gripe with the box, or the bags they're using (both are which are reasonably heavy duty) but the simple disturbing fact is the bag is NOT being sealed. The bag is merely being bunched closed by hand with a reusable cable tie but it does NOT seal as is evidenced by the loose powder that had puffed out everywhere in our shipping box on arrival (see photo). We also discovered two Silverfish who were living the heavenly life inside the bag... there's no saying where those critters came from but a non-sealed bag leaves little question in the mind. Put simply, the bag is breathing and open to whatever elements and critters it's exposed to during shipment and storage and your "long life powdered product" is in fact rapidly taking on moisture and spoiling the second it leaves the farm. The Request to Hoosier Hill Farm: There's plenty of folks that like your product but we need you to acknowledge your bulk shipping practices are NOT up to standard. The current cable tie (aka. zip tie) method is NOT sealing adequately and there are plenty of other options readily available to you to resolve this (heat seal the dang bag as well as use the cable tie?). Please do something about this so we can continue buying your otherwise good product with confidence!
