golo MQ Colorful Ball Wool Yarn for Hand Weaving

Well, my headline pretty much says it all. This is beautiful yarn, and so soft. The colors are exactly as I expected them to be, too - very lush and rich. I don't crochet socks, so I'm going to see if I can find a shawl or scarf pattern that will accommodate this amount of yarn. It will be lovely, and I can wait to get started. Recommended!

I ordered color 8-007 and … it’s red/orange/brown/black not shades of purple and black. It’s nice yarn and I’ll still use it but I’m really bummed that there’s no correlation between the actual yarn and the images.

I've seen a few reviews stating displeasure because of the size of the yarn. T was surprised, because I got exactly what I ordered. The #8 has the most yardage at 875 (800 meters) yards in a 100 gram ball (3.5 ounces). This means you'll be getting a really thin yarn and is considered cobweb to laceweight. In other words - it's about the same thickness as #10 crochet cotton or as my one friend calls it - doily thread. With that said, the golo Wool Yarn Size 8 is a nice yarn. Mine arrived in a lovely pink organza bag that had pink ribbon pulls and pink ribbon handles. This bag will certainly be able to be used again! The yarn label had NO information about content, yardage, etc. - just manufacturing information and a link to their website. My suggestion is to hand wash and block dry for care. I cannot comment on the color of the yarn, as I got one much different than the one I had chosen. It could be that there is really no choice for Vine members and that's OK with me, because I like the color I received. Overall, this is a lovely yarn and after doing a test swatch, I'll be knitting up a shawl with it.

I should have read the reviews since someone mentioned before that this yarn is VERY FINE!. To knit some socks I have to double the wool and use a US#2 needle and even then it comes out thin and not at all what i expected. If used as is, be ready to work with thin US#1 needle. Also I didn’t get the colors I ordered, since you only pick by clicking and there is no number or anything identifying the different shades I guess you get one of the colors shown. I should have send it all back, but having a long car ride ahead of me I wanted to start on this Christmas present.

Thin, thin, thin. Not what I expected. Thinner than dental floss!!!!
