This was the book I read back in 5 grade!
Great story! Great learning experiences! I used to be lonely kid on the playground in 5th grade elementary school. One day my teacher gave me this book to read for a class project. I was always alone so I started reading. Another student from my class asked me if I can let him read it next when I finish. I gave that kid the book. The next day he came to talk to me about the book and what he like about it. He became my best friend. A book changed my whole life. So I bought this book after many years for my family to read it also. I am 30 years old now and this book will always be my favorite.

A Very Funny Read Aloud / Book Group choice
This a a funny book that my 2nd graders (highest level group) love to read. It's silly, descriptive, and full of surprises. It is a bit irreverent....

Must read for all middle school youth, youth mentors and parents of pre-adolescents
I've used this book with middle school students who struggle with being accepted by their peers as well as feeling constantly judged by both family and friends. I've also used it with my piano students of the same age. Middle school students love the humor and can relate to the desire to be perfect. The fantasy element of the wise sage who sees all and knows all is appealing to these young people as well. If you are mentoring a middle school-aged young person, it avoids the preachiness of many "self-help books." An essential part of any youth program--it could be used in small group discussions or as a read-aloud with middle school students.

Perfect for Little Perfectionists
My first grade teacher read this book to my class when I was a little girl, because I was such a perfectionist! Even at that young age, my perfectionism was a bit debilitating. I remember being completely shocked when we reached the end of this book and came to the punch line--that you cannot be perfect, and even if you could be perfect, it wouldn't be of much use. The memory has stuck with me. Twenty years later, I bought two copies of this book--one for an extremely perfectionist first grader that I know, and the other for myself! I read through it in about an hour, and it was actually a great reminder for me. This is definitely one of my all-time favorite books.

A Child's Review
That was a very good book! Sometimes Milo did very funny things. I liked the part when he fell asleep and dreamt Dr. Silverfish told him he was PERFECT on one page, and then NOT PERFECT on the next page. Wearing broccoli around his neck, not eating for 24 hours and not doing anything for the next 24 hours and drinking weak tea were hard things to do to be perfect. Milo learned at the end being perfect is boring. I don't want to be perfect, that's boring. I recommend this book for other kids!

I enjoy using this book as a read aloud to my students in the beginning of the school year. It works well with classroom discussions and the message of the book is perfect with students grades 3-5.

Funny in places and "cute"
Not the laugh out loud book we hoped, but my 8yr old described it as a "cute" story, funny in places.I think it delivers on the promise and it's worth the money, but there are better books at explaining to kids that are chasing perfection that there is no such thing ..
