TaylorPrecision Products Springfield Big and Bold Thermometer with Mounting Bracket (5.25-Inch) - 2 PACK

One of the needles had fallen off during shipment, but was easy to replace, cover is snap on. Units were off temp at first, but that was easy to adjust with a straight slot screwdriver on the knob on the back and have remained reasonably accurate during use. Mounting hardware is subpar and bends easily. I would not recommend these in areas that will receive high winds. Font and background are easily read from a distance. Naturally points straight up at freezing so if the needle is pointing to the right it is above freezing and to the left is below freezing, which is a nice configuration for the winter.

Item received does not match the one depicted. There are two very similar looking items. One is branded Springfield and the other is Taylor brand. The picture in the ad is Springfield model which has more prominent markings than the Taylor brand I received.I prefer the markings on the Springfield model that I already had. Returning the Taylor model I received.The two thermometer in my photo show slightly different temperature, but the Springfield model has an adjust screw on the back. Presumably the Taylor model has it too - did not open it before returning.

My old thermometer was a Sunbeam brand that is no longer available. This Taylor is constructed similar and the back looks the same. The brackets are identical, in fact, the Taylor is in the old Sunbeam bracket, the Sunbeam is temporarily mounted in the Taylor bracket with a thumbtack as temporary mounting. Both thermometers respond the same to within a degree. Yes, it was hot when I took the photo.The only reason I'm replacing the Sunbeam is because of the yellowing and fogging of the plastic lens. Here's to another 15 years!

Although a different brand, a perfect replacement for an older thermometer that was weathered and no longer visible. New one dropped right into my existing mount!!

Not real accuratebut worth the money

I bought these so my husband could hang them outside of two windows in the house. They are on opposite sides of the house and the temperatures are not accurate. I would return them but they have already been screwed into the wood.

Wanted to mount this in north facing window but could not use the metal mount. Here is what worked, I took a one inch square mounting tape (for pictures), placed it in the middle of the thermometer, and stuck it on the window. Works great! Adheres very well so far. After calibrating it with local temperature, it is quite accurate.

This is a lightweight, thin disk dial thermometer accurate enough for indoor/outdoor temperature, compared to the one that I purchased in the mid-70s, same brand (made in U.S.A.) and still working. This new thermometer is made in China with back exposed to the element while the original one has an enclosed back and better design.

Have had several of these over the years and like them. Descent quality and a good price. Accuracy can vary a couple of degrees between units, but is good in general throughout the entire scale. Works well in deep freezing conditions as well. Have tested them to -40 degrees with no issues.Recommended.
