Love this knife
I love Esee products let’s start with that. I have several of their knives. This is the largest esee I own. I like the spear point and the high grind. The fire steel and tinder it’s a little gimmicky but it doesn’t bother me. The sheath is a nice kydex, the belt clip plate works fine but you can probably attach a leather strap as a belt loop. Perfect size for a camp knife, outdoor knife, survival knife. Not overly heavy easy to handle. Esee 1095 is awesome it gets razor sharp and doesn’t take much to get a working edge. These knives a quality and love the design, value. 1095 is prone to rusting but with the heavy coating Esee knives have you might get some rust on the edge if the environment is too wet but just apply your preference of lubricant to the blade and you should be good. I use sentry tuff glide on all my knives and apply it all over even the micarta handles. The only complaint some people might have is the blocky handle scales not a big deal you can sand it where you need it or can easily get aftermarket ones. I have large hands so I like the large handle scales. This knife does not get as much love as the 3/4/5/6 but it’s an excellent knife.

Quality all around woodsman blade
Stout, simple, versatile woodcraft knife. Arrived promptly, well packaged, in perfect condition. Sharp but needed final honing to attain hairsplitting keen edge. The classic Kephart style blade is more than adequate for hunting/camping/woodcraft use. The handle is hand filling and very grippy, but souls easily, particularly with blood. The ferrocerium rod inside handle is OK as a last resort item, but is not really practical for regular use. The black blade coating may be removed (with effort) if desired, but I left as is to provide additional corrosion protection in the swampy humid environment I use it in. The sheath is good quality. I prefer the hard plastic/nylon to leather in my wet conditions. The overall package is a little heavy, but not nearly so bad as many of the insanely overbuilt pry-bar thick “log splitters” that some enjoy pounding through wood. Plenty tough enough to “baton” if that’s your thing, but better as an all around woodsman tool of reasonable weight and size.

Esee rocks!!!
This not so much a review but more of a brag. Lazer strike like all esee products is no different.... It is awesome!!! Made in USA with a no question ask warranty is a no brainer. 1095 steel and came out of the box very sharp. I started using it right away to strip bark of a walking stick. The edge didn't even come close to being dull. The scales are very comfortable.... For me.... And the knife has good balance. It's a great all around knife and also comes with a little fire kit underneath the scales. The price is amazing..... It would be over 200 bucks in most companies. Esee is definitely a winner.

Fantastic Knife
Most people seem too be split 50/50 on this knife I for one fall into the side of loving it, The handle feels great and provides a very strong grip, The blade is a tank and feels unbreakable, And having a fire starting kit in the handle is an awesome plus. Now I also feel the need to point out this has the best stock sheath I have ever gotten with a knife, I have never had an ESEE knife before and from what I can tell they all come with very nice Kydex sheaths so if that's the standard for them it's another reason too look into this brand of knives over others. The only negative I have is this knife does have a slight issue with "biting" into things so could be a issue when feathering wood or what have you, I haven't done anything to the stock edge it came with yet because it arrived extremely sharp and I haven't really dulled it significantly yet but I have seen other people mention this online as well so it's worth noting.

It seemed like a goof knife
only issue is that it wouldn't strike the rod

A Perfect Fit
I have yet do do any field testing with it so i cant comment as to the durability (thus the 4star in craftsmanship) , however being an esee knife, im sure it will hold beautifully. Out of the box razor sharp. I've previously brought an ESEE-4 and was happy with it, however the handle was a bit small for my hands. The LS offers a slightly longer handle which fits my bear paws perfectly 😀. The handle is easy to disassemble and reassemble with a flathead or the provided ring. Inside are the fint n' steel along with 2 cotton swabs. One can happily swap that stuff with other miniature firestarting/survival supplies. Now I'm a fan of a pull down draw and this clip allows for that functionality. You can easily mount this clip for a standard standard draw, this is just my personal preference. 4screws 4spacers 4backs so dont loose any of them

Great knife
I went back and forth for over a year as to which Essee I should buy. One day I took the leap and purchased this LS as my first Esee knife. Took it on a three day canoe camping trip. It felt like I owned it for years. Probably because I’ve been staring at it for that long. It was sharp out the box, felt sturdy, felt secure in The hand and am very happy with this purchase. The price point did have something to do with my choice. As this knife was a little smaller and less expensive then the esee 6
