Twist Me

Surprisingly Good
I actually really liked Twist Me by Anna Zaires. I had semi-low expectations going into it and I found it was exactly the dark messed-up captive romance novel that I was wanting. It’s by no means a classic romance and the main relationship in the book is in no way healthy but I’m into it.The plot is pretty straightforward: Innocent and naive Nora Leston is kidnapped by the sadistic, rich, & handsome Julian. They meet at a bar and the magnetic draw is instant. While Nora rushes away, scared of their connection - Julian is obsessed. Nora tries to forget that night in the following weeks and move on with her life, Julian has other plans.Nora wakes up on a private island with no chance of escape and at the complete mercy of her captor.Julian makes the book for me. He is enigmatic, intelligent, dominating, and darkly beautiful. He remains a mystery for much of the book. The reader is in the same position as Nora when it comes to information about him. What does he do? Where does he come from? Why did he kidnap Nora? All questions that burn in your mind throughout the novel. We learn gradually that Nora is the first women he’s ever taken; the why is the elusive question. He reminds me somewhat of Montes Lazuil from the The Fallen World trilogy by Laura Thalassa. Julian and Lazuil both have that dominating, controlling, and possessive side that seeps through the pages. Both authors also do excellent jobs of writing them as the most powerful person in the room. Their presence is tangible. However, I would say that Julian is more sadistic and wants a pet more then an equal. Lazuil is redeemable while Julian is simply not. Additionally, while Lazuil’s counterpart is strong-willed and determined - Nora is not.I didn’t mind Nora, but she is undeniably weak. She gives in to her situation a bit too easily. And after one escape attempt, she’s basically done. I understand her reluctance to attempt anything without guarantees of a result, however, she just seems to accept her situation. That being said, the book is set between 1-2 years, so I guess that has to be taken into account. Being stranded alone on a island with no means of escape or communication, with your only company being your kidnapper and the other person, Beth, the jaded cook / maid who consistently reinforces your tormentors actions as positive would start to brainwash anyone. The quality I most appreciated in Nora was her unrelenting practicality. She sees no point in moping about or complaining about her situation. Which is a necessary quality when a character is in a terrible situation. She assesses the situation, comes up with a plan, and tries to escape by force. When that fails, she decides the next best course of action. So she can’t leave the island by force, she’ll try to seduce Julian to take her off the island. Unfortunately, she has little success - instead of seducing him to let her go, she falls deeper into their all-consuming relationship. The more time that passes, the more Julian becomes her world. I cannot hold this against Nora. She is young and soft and Julian is beyond dominating.Ultimately, I did really enjoy Twist Me - but if you’re going to read it, you’ve just got to let reality go.

Good novel, not as dark as others, but still dark themed
Twist MeBy: Anna Zaires4/5 StarsSo this book has been billed as dark erotica/romance and that is the genre where it fits in. Something that has really been pissing me off lately is when people will buy & read the dark books and then in their review talk about how they are more in ‘romance, love & relationships.’ My question to those people… Why did you buy the book? Do you not understand the inherent themes of the dark romance/erotica genre? Seriously get a clue!!That being said, this book was not as dark as a few other series that I have read and loved here lately (by authors Pepper Winters, M.S. Willis, Lily White, CJ Roberts.) So much so, that this really read like an unconventional love story. Whatever that says about me, I’m not too concerned. Judge me if you must, but I LOVE this genre and I choose to see the beauty in these types of stories. No matter how dark a good author can pull me around. The writing was solid, Anna Zaires did a fantastic job getting the story across and helping us to fall in love with the hero/anti-hero Julian and our heroine Nora. The story is told 100% from Nora’s viewpoint. That doesn’t bother me, but sometimes, I really wanted to get inside Julian’s head.Nora & Julian meet by chance, when Nora sneaks out with a friend & hits up a club with her fake i.d. She knows that she is attracted to Julian, but she also knows that there is an inherent danger, a darkness that lies underneath his masculine beauty and charms. Then there is the subsequent kidnapping and while she’s is made and partially hates Julian, she also loves what he can do to her body. There are several other twists and turns, but the book is wrapped up nicely while leaving an opening for the sequel, Keep Me. I will continue with this story, because I really like how their ‘relationship’ has evolved into something different than captive/captor.

Arriva in Italia

i cant even describe how amazing this book was, like i read it in less then 24hrs and didnt put it down....i eventually finished it and im OBSESSED with it, like i wanted to cry when it ended. I cannot wait for the 2nd book.it starts off with noras normal teenage life, and how she goes on a date with her crush, then everything changes when she gets abducted by the sexy blue eyed man from the club Julian, she cant seem to understand how and why he took her and what she should expect, but as time passes she grows more and more attracted and has an infatuation with her captor, she cant describe it. she should hate him and feel disturbed and violated but she dosent, the raw passion she feels for him is indescirable.I fell for julian to as the book went on, theres no other way, to go....hes just strong, sexy and knows what he wants and is not afraid of anything.by far probley one of the best books ive read EVER, plzzzzzz anna release the next book ASAP!im dieing here, i need my julian fixx! ;)
