IC Indoor Cycling Bike Series

I’m really impressed with this bike! It’s sturdy, smooth, and very comfortable to ride. The resistance is easy to adjust, and it feels like a real gym experience at home. I also like how quiet it is, which makes it perfect for daily workouts. I had previously purchased the IC3.5, but after about two weeks the resistance got stuck on the highest level and I had to return it. Because of that experience, I decided to upgrade, and I’m glad I did. In my opinion, it’s definitely worth paying a bit more for the IC4, the quality and performance are much better. Great quality and definitely worth it!

Solid cycling experience. Quiet. My wife really likes the handlebar adjustment forward and back. Our old bike handlebar was too far away from her. Assembly was pretty easy, especially when I discovered and watched a Youtube video. The owners manual is not great. Drawings are unclear. Two negatives: 1. The console readings for mph and calories burned seem out of whack. I know about how fast I ride a road bike. The speed is too high. The calories are 30% higher than what my Garmin watch estimates from my heart rate and body weight. 2. When I wrote to the vendor (JHT -Johnson Health Tech?) to inquire about this, I received a legalistic bunch of mumbo jumbo about “out of warranty” service. The bike is brand new. I sent the requested info - serial number, etc., etc., but still did not receive an adequate explanation.

I researched quite extensively, comparing this Schwinn and the leading indoor cycles. I chose this one and am very happy. Quality is excellent. I like not having a huge built-in screen as I can easily use my i-pad for a training program or watch the game on the TV from across the room. Pretty easy to put together. Be careful - it is heavy. I bought a mat for underneath and that was worth it. I appreciate the option of using clip-ins or regular shoes without changing out pedals. Like the 1-100 adjustable dial. Seat height adjustments and position are great. Very sturdy and looks great.

The bright side: I love the sturdiness of this bike and the smooth, dead-silent ride. It’s a heavy piece of hardware, but it went together easily (by myself). The less-than-bright side: The electronics that come with this bike don’t integrate with anything, not even with the software Schwinn offers (JRNY or Explore the World). A few notes: — The Schwinn IC4 computer unit won’t power or charge my iPad (the bike is connected to power and the screen is “lit”) — Cannot get the pulse to show any data. Ever. No matter what extra devices or services I have tried. — If I press Bluetooth to sync with a heart-rate device, the JRNY app ends my workout. In fact, the Bluetooth option (on screen) seems to appear only at random times — Cannot use any Apple HomeKit speakers (HomePods or EarPods) with JRNY or Explore the World apps, even though these are playing via a compatible iOS device — There is no correlation between the data shown on the screen and what’s shown in JRNY or Explore the World. These are wildly different. — Unable to sync AppleWatch heart rate anywhere - even with (expensive) add-on devices or services claiming to do this. — The JRNY app appears to be the only way I can get (very limited) data from the bike into AppleHealth. I assume this will mean I won’t be able to synchronize anything at all once the JRNY trial ends - unless I want to pay for this privilege — It’s extremely hard to use the JRNY app if/when I just want to ride at my own pace, vs doing a guided routine. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it’s a pain to locate and initiate. I’ve tried everything and am generally pretty adept at coming up with technology workarounds. I had expected at least some basic integration with Apple fitness, GymKit and/or AppleWatch. If I had it to do over again, I’d probably opt for a less expensive bike for now…and wait for someone to come out with a “smarter” bike that still allows me to use my own iOS screen.

So I am a busy working mom and I was working out at a gym and with a personal trainer but the scheduling was just not working. I decided on a bike back in the fall and spent about 5 months researching. I was going to get the peloton but at the last minute decided on the Schwinn. It was really bugging me that I’d be tied up with only peloton content and have to pay a costly monthly fee. I was also looking at even cheaper bikes but i wanted to stick with a good brand name, and I love that it has the monitor so my husband - who doesn’t care about classes - can just hop on and ride and see his metrics without additional screens, etc. Over a week in and I am so happy with my choice! I was going to use the peloton app or apple fitness, but it turns out there’s tons of great cycle classes on YouTube for free! No need to spend extra at this point. I can also use my regular sneakers so that’s a huge plus for me too! As far as delivery and assembly - I had it delivered the next day after I ordered. It was a huge heavy box but I was able to slide it into my garage and take everything out. I carried it in pieces to my basement and put it together with the help of a YouTube video in about an hour and a half. Mind you, I’m a 5’3” 113 lb woman. I did it all by myself. Yes it was heavy and awkward to carry myself, but I did it. It went together mostly easy, but the biggest issue was some of the smaller screws didn’t want to go in on the monitor. After messing with them for a bit I got them in. Once I got it all set up I tested it out. It is so smooth and a quiet ride. When my husband got back in town and saw it he noted how good it looks and he can tell it’s good quality. So far, I love it!

Excellent quality. Smooth, consistent operation. Very simplistic and not overly technical.

Update: after two months, 4 parts and 2 technician visits, my brand new bike finally works as it should. I won’t update the stats but did update the comment. Customer service was a time consuming thing but they were responsive. I am beside myself with frustration with Schwin. I purchased the IC4 which was delivered in April. For two months now, there was some sort of debris issue making a noise on the front fly wheel. Time and time again customer service walked my husband thought different ways to fix it. Finally Schwin sent a new fly wheel and a tech to install it. After several hours he said it was fixed and indeed there was no longer a clicking sound. The next day I went to workout and now the display does not work.. RPMs are not working.. no blue tooth. I paid a lot of money for a bike that has been absolutely nothing but problems. Let’s just see if someone from Schwin reads this review and does something to solve my complaint. I’ve now been told it will be yet another two days before a technician will reach out to me with next steps…. I have no words for the frustration related to this bike.

during the beginning of the covid 19 pandemic and my gym closure in march 2020 i started looking into getting my own spin bike and after reviewing many and reading loads of reviews and i decided to try this one. it had great reviews by it seemed like reputable/believable spinners without breaking the bank and ending up with something useless. unfortunately when i finally decided to make the purchase it ended up being out of stock everywhere! luckily i was able to purchase here with a ship date to come when available and i did. i honestly wasn't sure if would ever get but i did. ordered 5/15/20 and 5/29 got email stating would be shipped 6/1/20! so happy! received with no problems, it didn't take my husband long to put it together, he was actually very impressed for the price how well constructed it was. i use it several times a week and haven't had any problems with it at all. its very quite , works well with my clips in my spin sneakers without changing. i had no problem with adjustments for height and forward positions. i like the media rack which holds my ipad well which i use for spin workouts. even though the water bottle holder is little awkward when have ipad there, its not that big of deal to me to just reach over to get it. the lcd console is also fine for me, i mostly look at the rpms when doing workouts which is how my classes at the gym usually used. i'm also good with the fly wheel adjustment knob. if you have taken spin classes you get to know those by feel mostly and don't need numbers or anything, especially since different bikes even if same brand can be slightly different. not sure if seat is harder than i was used to or just had to retrain my bottom to get past that initial sore bottom muscles you get when starting to spin for 1st time. since did go from spinning 3-4 times a week to nothing for about 3 months. however, i did decide to buy a seat cover which i had never used or needed before and it does make it more comfortable. bought $29 gel black gel one which is great after buying a non gel one for $35 which didn't work good at all. also bought a $18 supermats to put under my bike to protect flooring which also works great. this is a heavy piece of equipment but not that bad to move when need to. overall i am extremely happy so far with this spin bike! it was well worth the little over $500 sale price i got it for.

Excelente, valeu cada centavo. Muito diferente de qualquer outra bike de spinning que ja usei em academia. Qualidade do exercício é muito melhor. O assento é ok, depois de uns dias acostuma.

I am so happy I chose this over the the more expensive peloton or the less expensive echelon. Although I don't have the echelon (ex 15) their price doubled over the holiday and is now almost the same price as the ic4. So why would we even consider the ex 15 anymore. The ic4 have been great. Assembly was simple. I did it all by myself and it was easy breezy. The quality is great and it is truly silent. I read people complained about the handlebars not moving towards you enough and I agree. I wish I could pull it towards me a bit more since I'm really short but I know other bikes dont even have 4 way adjustment. The bike looks great and feels sturdy. I've ridden off the saddle and and clipped in and I feel good about it. The saddle is fine and I know people complain how it's not soft enough. Spin bike saddle is not supposed to be squishy. It should be supportive which it is and when you're doing spin classes you'd be leaning forward a little anyways. It's not supposed to be like a cruiser saddle. There are a few things I wish were different but I think these are more so preference rather than an issue. I wish the tablet holder was more upright or adjustable. I find my tablet sits on funny angle and if it was more upright there would be less glare. I wish the strap on the hr monitor was less scratchy. I'm only complaining becasue I have a better hr monitor to compare to. If I didn't I probably wouldn't think much about it. Lastly I actually think it better to have the weights behind the saddle rather than under the handlebars. I feel it's more natural to sit up and then pick up the weights rather than grab the weights then sit up. Love it so far and look forward to enjoying this for years.

this bike arrived with a left hand crank on the right hand side - had to wait for a replacement part - finally got a chance to use it and it doesnt work - its got zero resistance - despite the controller telling me that its going up. Trying to get service from Schwinn is tricky - they take my call give me a ticket number, but then nothing happens. Does this company stand behind their products? so far, not sure they do. Quality control questionable. lets see if they honour their warranties

Listen, I wanted a Peloton bike like the rest of us, but I don't have an extra $2500 or however much those babies are, so I got myself this sweet little Schwinn. It was relatively easy to put together, I had a little help tightening the screws. It's heavy, so bringing it into my house from the garage was the biggest obstacle. I had to replace the resistance knob almost immediately because the company had installed it improperly and it was already worn out (it basically would not turn). I called the company, and they sent one out right away, I installed it properly and have not had a issue since. The bike is loud. It's has a chain mechanism so you can hear it, it's not crazy loud, I can't hear it with my earbuds in as I listen to the Peloton app, so I think you're okay there. I do recommend buying some silicone goo that goes on treadmills - I forget what it's called, but I apply it to the resistance knob to keep it easy to turn, and to the wheel pad to keep the wheel lubed up. The more resistance you apply, the more the wheel pad is pressed against the wheel causing friction, so the lube is a must in my opinion. It also eliminates that loud screechy sound some people report hearing when you use a lot of resistance. It's not a perfect bike, but well worth the money and provides an amazing workout. Oh, and it looks great.
