If you love the rugged, utilitarian aesthetic of vintage digital tools but want modern module performance, the Casio AE-1600H Series is an absolute standout. It positions itself somewhere between a classic G-Shock and a refined sports timer, giving you immense capability on the wrist without feeling overly bulky. One of the best watches money can buy in this category. The Unique Three-Layer Display: The visual layout is the main event here. Inspired by 1990s sports graphics, the upper section features two tracking bars and a circular dial dedicated entirely to sub-segment stopwatch functions (1/20 second, 10-second, and 1-minute tracking). Below that, the primary time digits are massive, incredibly crisp, and easy to read at a quick glance while running or working. Front-Mounted LED Illuminator: Casio got the ergonomics right by placing a dedicated light button directly on the front face below the screen instead of hiding it on a side pusher. The amber LED backlighting spreads evenly across the entire LCD panel, providing excellent low-light legibility without burning excessive power. Set It and Forget It Durability: Packing a 10-year estimated battery life and 100 meters (10 ATM) of water resistance, this watch is built to be an absolute tank. You can take it swimming, trail running, or wrenching in the garage without a second thought. The resin case absorbs impacts well, and the lightweight 90-gram design keeps it effortless on the wrist all day. The Rally Strap Design: The black resin band features a dual-hole alignment. This provides two massive benefits: it provides a much more secure fit that won't easily slide around during heavy movement, and it allows for fine-tuned, comfortable adjustments to match varying wrist sizes perfectly.

Cool piece of Casio. Modded mine slightly by adding 22mm strap adapters and opted for a Black/Gray Bond Strap. Has a subtle pop to it and gave the watch more character. I like it and its AE1500 cousin for their large numeric display. Super easy to read at a glance. Not sure why some find the display too dark according to some reviews unless this pertains to the negative display. I opted for the black case, positive display. Can't go wrong with this watch in my opinion. 100m water resistant, 5 alarms, timer & stopwatch. All the basic G Shock functions without the G Shock pricetag. Safe to say these are G Shock killers as this and the 1500 are well built and quite durable. Only downside is that I wish Casio would've opted for a mineral crystal instead of the cheap acrylic. Not a deal breaker and easily remedied by installing glass screen protectors. The straps aren't the best quality either, but utilizing a pair of JaysAndKays 22mm adapters, I fitted my 1500 & 1600 with some nice Nato straps. Ive been researching bull bars for the 1700 and believe the GW9400 Rangeman bull bars might be compatible. I'll try to confirm and followup on this later, but the glass screen protectors are readily available here on Amazon. Just use the search and they should pop up. Keep on mod'n & keep on G Shock'n. :) Edit: For the AE1500, I'm found that the GW6900 Bull Bars fit. Not perfect, but they will work.

A great watch for the money. One of Casio’s most legible offerings and one of the few watches I can use without my readers. This watch is very lightweight despite its size, and features those functions you’re most likely to use on the daily, such as stopwatch, timer, dual time and multiple alarm options. Plus, the battery last for TEN YEARS, so it’s practically maintenance free.

outstanding work watch i love it and wear if often. It’s big it’s bold and it’s a tough as nails! Easy setup no issues at all the band is tough and easy to wear despite its size. I really have enjoyed it a large glass easy display i love it !

Expensive but good quality

Easy to read and 10 year battery for a low price. Put it on a Hemsut nylon Velcro strap, looks awesome.

Huge fat numbers excellent for senior eyes, easy to read. Simple, light feels very sturdy. Highly recommended low cost Casio made in china.

After wearing my gwg 1000 and gwg2000 I wanted something a little lighter for weekends. Those others have some heft to them. This watch is very light on the wrist and the big display helps too.. 10 year battery life a plus. Not multi-band 6 or solar but that really wasn't a deal breaker for me.

I'm pulling the plug on this watch after using it for about a month. the Chime is almost inaudible and i rely on my watch for a morning alarm and meetings during the day. Unless you are in total silence you can't hear it. and my ears test ok. it's unbelievable how they could design a watch with such a light tone. i can only guess that they were stretching to get that 10 year battery rating.

I used Casio Mudmaster for my work which is little big ,so I was looking for light well designed and I got eye on AE-1600H perfect budget price for 10years battery with varieties of colours.I am using watch sun protection film so digits are little blur you may use 9H film for clear display.
