Is this enough for two boots? Would it last a while?

I have done three pair of 6 inch boots w 2 applications each and still have a quarter can left

Does this give a gloss shine when polished, or is it more of a flat finish?

This product will yield a more matter finish. The typical high-shine effect achieved by standard polish is a product of petroleum distillates. Otter Wax products are made with only natural ingredients to help maintain the original luster of leather.

I already have the Otterwax bar, could I use it on my boots to waterproof them instead of this?

The Otter Wax Bar works best with fabric, and in some instances sueded leather. While rubbing the Fabric Wax onto leather will help to waterproof leather, it will not last as long as the Boot Wax that is specifically formulated to offer long-lasting waterproofing for leather.

For a new leather bag, which is recommended, leather salve or boot wax for an initial treatment?

For new leather, we generally recommend either our Leather Salve or Leather Oil. Boot Wax is best used for when an additional layer of waterproof protection is desired.
