When attaching to a a car tyre valve is it a screw on or just clamp on like at a garage using compressed air?

It’s clamp on. Also you have to turn on in a specific order, plug in, set pressure, clamp & turn on otherwise it doesn’t start.

This seems to shut off before set pressure is reached. Any reason/advice?

check correct calibration i.e psi or bar is chosen enter pressure required connect to tyre and then turn on.hope this helps because it is a handy tool
