I’ve never seen one that looks this sleek and modern while still delivering such strong performance. It’s slim with a subtle curve around the waist line, tall but doesn’t take up much floor space. I’m using it in the room above the garage, which always gets unbearably hot. Since I have horizontal sliding windows, a traditional window AC wasn’t an option, so this was the perfect solution. I was honestly surprised by how quiet it is—much quieter than my old portable unit—and it even has a better energy efficiency rating. If you have a small bedroom with standard west coast sliding windows, this is the machine for you. Do NOT cheap out on other single hose units without the inverter. They will trip your breakers and if they are too big will introduce moisture into the room. This unit is actually quiet and starts up gently without the power spike. The dual hoses ensure the motors are cooled by outside air and no drawing in room air creating a vacuum that sucks in even more outside air. Only Cons so far is the panel that goes in the window is a little finicky and they don’t give you much foam strips to plug the holes so buy extra. The cost is pretty high for a bedroom AC, if you know how to safely install an actual wall mounted mini split go that route and it’s about the same cost. Lastly, it’s pretty huge. The pedastal and dual hoses make it take up as much floor space as a less narrow unit. It’s also like 4 feet tall. But for me I’d rather give up the space for something that actually works and doesn’t make rooms smell while risking burning down my house due to electrical issues. Plus the WiFi and Amazon Alexa integration is nice so you don’t even need the remote. It took me about 20 minutes to get it unpacked and installed. Read the manual and it will go smoothly.

(I can't say enough about this ac unit I haven't needed to empty water once yet. The cooling is great I wish I could review the heater side of it but the summers still to hot to fool with it. The ONLY bad thing I can say about it is the place where the hoses clips into the window board leaves a small crack because of the clip but it's easily filled with a bit of the extra foam.) That was my first impression and the ac side is still great but the heater side i now dislike and think it's mostly useless the problem is that it requires you to keep the windows exhaust hooked up even just for the heat so unless you are going to insulate the window board and pipes it's going to be a losing proposition so like I said other than light heat in early fall useless!!

While my central AC's being repaired, 2 of these units are filling in (1 on each floor of a townhouse). They've held up well, including over a 90F degree weekend. They've not only kept their immediate rooms cool, they've kept other rooms on their respective floors tolerable. The dual hoses and inverter have vented most of the heat in the correct direction. Haven't had to insulate the hoses at all. They were trivial to install into the window panels, and the panels were pretty easy to install into the window. Sound levels have been tolerable. There's a bit of humming and slight vibrating at the lowest temp (61F), but they're easily the quietest portable units I've ever heard. The self-evaporating feature has worked perfectly so far. It's so nice not needing to drain it every 10-12 hours (or having to hook up a hose). Unpacking was a model for other similar devices. While there's plenty of padding at the bottom, it's just a matter of cutting the nylon straps and lifting the box up; no need for tipping or for having to cut open the long side of the box. The manual and accessories are nestled in one of the insulation bits, so keep an eye out for them. As for issues, the weight and size are greater than expected. Lifting them up 1-2 flights wasn't easy, even for a reasonably fit person. Fully recommend a handcart with straps, especially a cart that'll handle stairs easily. The units wheel alright over hard surfaces. Carpet or rugs are a bit trickier. Other than that is the power draw. These 2 units have consumed 50% more electricity than my central AC does during comparable weather. Not exactly a surprise, but something to keep in mind. Lastly is one minor UX piece. It'd be nice for the temperature buttons to have a hold feature. As is, the buttons need to be pressed for each degree you wish to adjust. In other words, if it's currently set to 70F and I want to change it to 75F, I have to push the button 5 times (instead of pressing once and holding). Can't speak to the bluetooth or remote control features as I haven't used them yet. Overall, I'm pleased with these units. They're the best portable ACs I've used. They'll fill in well for my purposes, and it's good to have backup units again.

Just like the title says. The unit put out a decent cool, not cold, air when I first installed it. Then slowly puts out less each and every day. Our 5000 btu window unit significantly outperforms this portable ac. 2 Thumbs way down.

Works Great as an AC & HEATER in 16x20 ft room vs an 1500watt standard heater only or a noisy window mounted ac. Worth every dollar. Just guesting it produces 3-4 times the heating area that a standard elec heater could. Also make sure you have a window to vent out of the exhaust hoses, due to when using in Cooling mod it blows out hot air out of one for the exhaust hoses & when in Heating mod it blows cold air out, the other hose draws in air to cool the unit. It a very quiet unit. Plus it uses 900watts max & No more hot electic outlets. Great Deal and should give one a lower electric bill as well.

Important One-Year Update After using this AC for a full year, including an entire summer, I noticed a few additional things that are worth mentioning. I also own the Midea Duo 14,000 BTU inverter and an LG inverter AC, so I now have even more long-term experience comparing these systems. The Hisense continues to impress me with its quiet compressor operation, reliability, fast cooling, and excellent temperature stability. However, I noticed that the exhaust hoses on the Hisense become noticeably hotter than the hoses on my Midea and LG units. Depending on where you live, this may or may not be a significant issue. If you live in a very hot and humid climate, I would consider using an insulating wrap around the exhaust hose to reduce the amount of heat radiating back into the room. Another thing I noticed is occasional crackling or popping noise, particularly at night and around the time the system starts or stops. This appears to be related to refrigerant flow and thermal expansion. The system uses aluminum components with copper piping, and the different expansion rates of these materials can produce this type of noise as temperatures change. It isn't something that has affected the cooling performance, but it can occasionally be noticeable. The other issue I noticed is panel vibration. This can happen with inverter ACs because the compressor continuously ramps its speed up and down, and at certain speeds the compressor vibration can resonate with the plastic panels. I have actually experienced this with Midea Duo units as well—I had to return two units before finding one without significant panel vibration. On this Hisense, I noticed some vibration around the front panel. I was able to reduce it significantly by manually adjusting and firmly pressing the panel around the area where the vibration was occurring. In my opinion, additional foam or better insulation between the panel contact points could have prevented this from the factory. It may vary from unit to unit, though, so if you receive a unit with excessive vibration, an exchange may be worthwhile. There are a few other things to keep in mind. At 8,000 BTU, this unit is best suited for small to medium-sized rooms. It is also tall and heavy, so depending on the height of your window, it can partially block the view. Occasionally, at very low temperatures, I can hear refrigerant-flow noise. It isn't a defect, but it can be mildly noticeable. Despite these minor drawbacks, this remains one of the most impressive portable ACs I've used. The upright tower design saves space, the inverter compressor provides excellent efficiency and temperature stability, the dual-hose system is extremely effective, and the smart-home features are excellent. Overall, after a full year of use, I'm still very happy with this unit. Hisense is a long-established brand that I've had good experiences with, including their TVs and other portable air conditioners. The build quality of this unit is excellent. The plastic molding is thick and high-grade, the finish is smooth, and the entire unit feels solid and substantial. It is fairly heavy, but I actually consider that a positive because it reflects the quality of the materials and insulation. The unit uses a dual-hose design, with two flexible hoses that connect to the included window kit. Installation works best with sliding windows; it is not really designed for traditional hinged windows. The dual-hose configuration is a major advantage because the condenser uses outside air rather than pulling conditioned air from inside the room. This helps prevent negative pressure and reduces the chance of hot outside air being pulled back into the room. One of the biggest reasons I chose this model is the inverter compressor technology. The compressor starts very softly and can run at very low speeds rather than constantly turning on and off. I also own a Midea Duo 14,000 BTU inverter AC and an LG inverter AC, so I have a good basis for comparison. Among these three, the Hisense has the lowest compressor noise. The sound insulation around the compressor appears to be particularly well designed. The fan is a slightly different story. The lowest fan setting isn't quite as quiet as my LG or Midea. This matters if you're a light sleeper because inverter ACs don't necessarily shut completely off when they reach the target temperature; instead, the compressor and fan ramp down to maintain the temperature. Even with that limitation, the overall noise level is very low, and the temperature stability throughout the night is excellent. Power consumption is another impressive aspect. I've seen the unit draw around 1,200 watts at peak demand, but after reaching the target temperature, it can stabilize around 400 watts. For an 8,000 BTU unit, I find that very impressive. The temperature sensors are also accurate, and the Hisense app displays the current room temperature, which helps with monitoring and maintaining a consistent temperature. The auto-evaporation system means I haven't needed to manually drain the unit during normal cooling operation.
