A must buy
This book is great - it is the true eat clean lifestyle. Other reviewers have termed it as difficult and restrictive - however it has incredible information on nutrition, supplements, meal plans, recipes and food combining. I have followed many blogs and tweets of fitness models and professionals, and this book jibes with their method of eating clean. Of course they cheat here and there too, it just depends on what their goals are and how far they still have to go. For example I already weigh 115lbs and have muscle definition from working out even though I'm just an average gal, so therefore I can have a glass of wine twice a week, or eat out with hubby every Friday night. My trainer, when I first started at the gym, told me that food consumption is what will change my look, not just working out. I kept a food diary and didn't really follow her advice. Well over a month my weight went down, and up and down and up so that after 30 days I had only lost a total of 1lb! After that I followed her clean eating advice and my weight just dropped off and muscle definition filled it's place. I used to be fat and gross, with a flabby tummy from two pregnancies and now have an amazing figure simply from eating clean and exercising.She mentions a lot about weight training and going to the gym, however if you are just starting out, don't let that intimidate you. Even if you are at Curves, or doing a water aerobics class or working out at home, you will still get great results - and they will be well worth the effort put in! Great starting out work outs for home that don't require a lot of equipment are the 10 minute work out solutions dvds for the ball and resistance bands, and the book 101 workouts with weights. All you need are some dumbbells.Good luck! Buy this - and READ it! It only took me 3 evenings. You will not be sorry.

Very good introduction to clean eating
I started my road down eating clean by accident but a very lucky accident indeed!I left the doctor's office and had gained a good deal more weight than I thought I had. He didn't say I should lose weight. As a weight lifter and someone who works out, I tend to not show extra weight like some. But that doesn't mean I shouldn't lose weight.So on my way home, I stopped at my favorite grocery store and bought a book put out by "Men's Fitness" magazine. I stocked up on the foods it recommended (some I had never eaten before) and in one month I had lost close to ten pounds and felt great. Oh, did I mention I was never hungry? (In all fairness, I must tell you I log my calories and don't go over what I should eat.) It was a book on clean eating.So I bought this book, "The Eat-Clean Diet" and read it all. I had already read most of the material in the previous book. But this book suggests sea salt. The first book I read recommends no salt for the most part. Of course, bodybuilders don't like salt as it tends to bloat you. I don't like much either so I still use very little but do use sea salt from time to time. With the right spices, you don't need salt.At any rate, I found the recipes much harder to prepare and shop for than the previous book. I'm sure they're wonderful. But, I'm not a cook. So too many ingredients confuses me. The kitchen is not my favorite room.There are not many recipes in the book. But this is not a cookbook. It basically explains the eating plan. And it's a wonderful plan! You can eat just about everything and create so many exciting dishes out of such items as plain yogurt and fat free sour cream and other things.I recommend both the eat clean diet and this book.- Susanna K. The Real Deal if you're ready to make a change once & for all
Only read this book if you are SERIOUS about changing your life. I am an Oxygen Magazine reader and thats where I learned who Tosca Reno was and how she changed her life. It is tough to learn to eat right if you never did or if you thought you were already. I always have "thought" I was doing everything right, but now I know I was still making mistakes that kept those "last 10 lbs" from going away. This book was very helpful and understandable and even had some humor mixed in. Once I actually got into the habits she talks about (and that took a while to do!), I really, truly started to lose weight quickly and feel better each day and have more energy than ever. Then I got my sister to buy a copy (she lives in California, I'm in Pennsylvania) and we talk about it often and help eachother stay on track. This may be the Lady that helps you finally do it - not just another fad "diet" book (even though DIET is gigantic on the front)!

Sound Practical Advice & Recipes
This is Not a diet book! It is a book to help change one's lifestyle. I bought this book to help me and my family eat clean. We were already on the right track in some respects, but this book shed some light on things we once thought were healthy. My hubby is pre-diabetic and the advice and recipes in this book have helped with his blood sugar. I have made almost every recipe in this book and so far they have all been "keepers." However, I feel it is important to note that some of the recipes are "spice heavy" meaning I feel the spice quantities are overdone in order to compensate for the lack of fat (others might disagree). Also, some of the cooking directions are vague, as in one recipe calls for dried beans to be cooked and left to soak overnight then, to drain beans next day reserving liquid, however, she never specifies what to do with reserved liquid. Please note, my philosophy is always to prepare a recipe as written the first time, then making notes and adjustments for the next time ( if there is one). Surprisingly, some of the recipes I thought my hubby and kids would not like (soybean dinner loaf), they actually loved. Note: mine came out very soupy and not in a loaf and I even cooked it longer than the stated 20-30 minutes, but we loved it anyway. In my very isolated little desert town, some of the ingredients were hard to come by or not available at all (such as rocket and/or arugula) so substitutions were made (spinach). Not big on supplements either, so please use your best judgement when deciding if supplements are right for you. Just because it's in the book, doesn't mean you have to use it.

Kudos to Tosca !!
This book helped me loss 40 lbs !!!!!! I started reading it and good hooked with the eating fundamentals and ease of reading. Got engaged non-stop for the next 2 years and now I'm even doing Triathlons !!! ( have done both Sprints and Olympic) never before had run for long distance or train for a multi-disciplinary sport ! I still keep eating every 3 hours and have multiple options to eat instead of following those boring old school eating regime were you need to check the fridge for Tuesday Aft and scavenge in your house 2 loaf of bread with chicken, if you missed one of them you will get panic not knowing why or what can be replaced it with. You won;t feel hungry after each meal and you will feel energetic and never drowsy. There are so any versions now but I will still recommend this one since this one has the magic words that kept me hooked !!If I can do it everyone can !!

Eat Clean, live better
I have been interested in fitness for a few years since losing about 4 stone in weight and the Eat Clean ethos really makes sense. Fresh food, a balanced diet and examining the beneficial qualities of every food you eat combined with a good workout plan involving cardio and weights makes for a healthy lifestyle. This book helps you to create wholesome meals for the whole family, and with a little forward planning, I've now got the whole family interested in eating clean(er)! Well done, Tosca

Nichts Neues
Diese Diät ist nun wirklich nichts Neues. Iss Gemüse und Obst, mach Sport und verzichte auf Zucker und Fett.Zielgruppe USA würde ich meinen, denn wenn dieses Buch einem noch was Neues vermittelt, steht man wohl kurz vor dem Herzinfarkt.

This is the third book I have gone through its awesome
I keep lending them out because I feel fantastic clean eating and I highly recommend it. Unfortunately I lend them out so much I eventually forget who has them lol.

Very Readable and Informative!
I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend in America who is managing to loose weight following the ideas in this book.The whole book is interesting and attractively presented and while I must admit to not following the total plan I have personalised it ,to suit my lifestyle,(I just cannot fit in six meals a day) and am managing to loose a few pounds steadily while feeling much healthier.
