NexTrend Garlic Twister 3rd Gen, clear manual garlic mincer for ginger, herbs and nuts

This garlic twist is fantastic. I hesitated before buying because I read some bad reviews and realised that some people were being sent fakes. So I contacted NexTrend (I bought from the Amazon page that has 'Nextrend' written under the description) and they told me what to look for - mine came with the NexTrend name in the plastic and 'garlic twist' also printed in the plastic. On the real thing, the plastic is very, very heavy duty - you should be able to tell immediately if you have been sent a fake. Mine works better than any traditional press. It crushes alot of cloves at once - I have done four or five cut in half at one time - and I have had good success with ginger too. I absolutely love the fact that you can wash it in seconds - I used to hate picking garlic residue out of the traditional presses. The teeth are strong - several times after using lots of cloves and hearing a tearing sound, I wondered if the teeth had survived - they had and I feel more and more trusting of this gadget - it seems properly made. I like the fact that you get more garlic out per clove than with a traditional crusher - the whole clove is crushed including the outer layer. And now I know how to use it properly, there is minimal waste. At first I was getting quite a bit of garlic stuck in the teeth - I didn't mind, but had to pick the last pieces out with a spoon, which was fiddly. Then I looked at other reviews to learn that if on the final twist you position it before opening so that the garlic is collected in two triangles outside the teeth, hardly anything is left in the teeth - brilliant. Get the clear one so that you can see where the garlic finishes up before opening. I am delighted to find a truly novel solution to a cooking chore that actually works. I am now using garlic even more than before. With old presses, I used to have a feeling of dread / annoyance before crushing garlic - putting one clove at a time into a tiny space and picking out the residue from the holes before I could move onto the next clove was irritating - not to mention messy and wasteful. This garlic twist is a huge improvement - faster, less wasteful and far quicker to clean - I look forward to using it actually. Bravo NexTrend - totally delighted!

For years I've been just slamming garlic with a fist or handy object to remove the husk then chop with a knife. For years I may just slice em up and dump in whatever. Recently I was on a quest to find a garlic press. Can't say why, just decided I wanted something more better than my tried and true manual method, which was great cause I love the smell of garlic on my fingers. Wanna sniff em? Anyway, I looked all over Amazon. Read zillions of reviews of trials and tribulations of various garlic press's. I balked at the price of many and how many had issues with falling apart or having plating chip and fail. I balked at many due to the fact MADE IN CHINA seems to be the mantra. I wont' mention names. Well, I finally decided I'd give this on a try. The 'press' arrived today. I've had a chance to use it on 4 cloves. Bottom line this thing worked great. A few twists and I had nicely ground garlic, better and finer grind then I get by my manual methods (cause I'm always in a rush) The unit was easy to clean with a simple rinse in the sink. I had no issues twisting this model, the new one with the handy knobs grips built in. Course I'm a 54 year old male so maybe it might be a different story if your wrist strength isn't there. The cloves I used for this test were of the 'medium' size and not the giant size. I used two at a time for my test. With the ease it handled those I doubt it would be a issue with 4 medium size cloves at a time. Unless you had some serious arthritis I don't' think anyone would have a problem with this. If someone did, it would be easy enough to chop a giant clove in half before placing it in the unit. Of course you smash the clove first and remove the husk then place it in the unit. The unit makes a handy smasher no separate smashing device required. No plating to fall out and get in your food with this. It looks like high quality acrylic of some sort to me. Far as I know not made in China. That is a major plus on top of it all.

This garlic press works extremely well, is easy to use, and is easy to clean. It does take a little experimentation to figure out how to get the garlic out quickly and easily once you have pressed it. (Almost anytime I am cooking with garlic I am also using some white wine, and I use some of the wine to rinse out the garlic press and get the remaining juice/oil.) This press gives much more finely and evenly pressed garlic than the traditional style press, and does not leave any of the garlic unpressed like tradtional presses do. I have not tried it with ginger, I like my ginger in chunks or slices anyway (to me a grater would make more sense for ginger if you wanted it that fine). I have seen other reviews say that you need to chop up bigger cloves of garlic and that you can only put in 3 or so cloves. I did not find that to be the case. I put 4 large cloves in uncut the very first time and had no problem mincing them right up. It does take more hand strength to do that much at a time, but if you have the hand strength it works fine. Bottom line: Unless this breaks, and I can't see any reason it would, this is the last garlic press I will ever buy. Let me know if you have any questions. :)

I gave this 5 stars because it does chop the garlic nicely, easier than chopping it myself with a knife, but I need to also add a cautionary note - If your recipe calls for 1 clove of chopped garlic, and you use the Garlic Twist, you actually need to chop 2 cloves of garlic instead of 1. That is because when you go to remove the chopped garlic from the chopper, some of it is going to stay 'stuck' to the prongs of the chopper. So -you don't get back all the garlic you put in; you're going to be short on the '1 clove of chopped garlic' unless you add another clove to make up for what's going to stick to the chopper. You could, if you have time, stand there and pick out each piece of that 1 clove with a toothpick, but I personally don't have that much time... I like it just fine. Up Date 11-23-20: The more I use this, the more I like it! It makes adding fresh garlic to my meals so much EASIER!!!! I actually did not realize, until I got this gadget, just how much garlic I was spending my time chopping! I stand by my comment that I don't get all the garlic 'back' that I put in, because some of the tiny pieces stick to the plastic, but that is a small matter; I just throw in an extra clove of garlic and then I get what I need! This thing works! Another Update 1-2-21 I do love this garlic chopper! However - there's been a development! I use this garlic chopper most every day and I put it in the dishwasher to wash. Last night, when unloading, I noticed that there is water in the lid part of the chopper! It looks to be about 1 ounce of liquid, and it was not in the top when I put it into the dishwasher - so there's been a leak of some sort between the top itself and the chopping part of the top. I've tried to 'shake it out', but so far I've had no luck. Now, I've just set it on the counter and I'm hoping that the liquid will just evaporate ... has anyone else had this problem?

I tried numerous garlic presses and I tried cutting/mincing it manually. I ended up with things with a millions nooks and crannies to wash afterward and/or with a half clove not having gone thru the press and/or fingers that stank for days later. I was in the process of researching my next garlic press, hoping to find some revolutionary new design when I happened upon this device. It looked like flimsy plastic schlock in the pictures but I bought it anyway. When I got it, I was instantly surprised by how solid and sturdy it actually was. I was then a bit apprehensive about the "teeth" inside the two parts; I figured sooner or later they'd break off. Well, so far, so good! I progressively used two, three and even four cloves at a time and minced them to perfection. Those who complain about the twisting action being strenuous on the wrists, I found it not to be. The trick is to not press the two parts tightly together and twist but give them a bit of leeway: Cusp them just enough for one part to get into the other and start twisting as you press the two sections closer together. I found what works best for getting the minced garlic out is the back (i.e. the handle) of a fork or spoon; at any rate, nothing pointy or sharp because that would just not work as well. Cleaning is a cinch: A rinse will get rid of any leftover pieces, so no need to poke around the thing trying to get the stubborn cling-ons out! I don't have a dishwasher so I dip both sides into a bowl of washing up liquid and they come out smelling of lemon. I don't write product reviews very often but this item REALLY impressed me. I'm not anything approaching a chef and use this twice, maybe three times a week. But what used to be a dreaded chore - mincing garlic - is now actually a pleasure. I highly recommend this product. UPDATE (11/18/2011): So, I've been using Garlic Twist for several years, twice per week on average, and the thing is STILL going strong. None of the "teeth" have fallen off, gotten misshapen, and the whole thing works as well as it did on Day 1. I'm just as impressed--and grateful!--today as I was when I used it for the first time!

I love this thing! I've used many different garlic presses, garlic peel removers, and other gadgets designed to make cooking with garlic easier over the years. This one peels & minces garlic quickly. It is easy to remove the garlic (I use a teaspoon) and a breeze to clean up. Dishwasher safe (oops not -- see below) or simple in-sink cleanup with soap and a brush. UPDATE: 4 months later -- the bottom has cracked almost all the way through. NexTrend is replacing it, but I still have to ship it back. I won't use the dishwasher anymore either -- water was inside the top after its last cycle. Downgrade to 3 stars. I LOVE what it does, but it isn't as sturdy as they make it out to be.

I like the Garlic Twist. I have small hands, and it can be a slight challenge to get it going, but nothing that would deter me from using it. Like other reviews have said, it doesn't make "clean" cuts of garlic, if that's what you're looking for. It does tend to mash it more than anything I guess, but it gets the job done just the same (and if anything, makes the juices come out better for a better flavor). It's definitely thicker and sturdier than I thought it would be. Depending on the size of the actual clove of garlic (especially for larger cloves), I do slice them in half before putting them in the Garlic Twist. I put both halves on one side though, so I do 2 cloves at a time. I usually use a mini rubber spatula to get every little bit of garlic out--I am particular about that. But it does clump up together so that most of it comes out at once. I have also used the Garlic Twist to cut up fresh ginger root. It's more fiberous than garlic though, and it is much tougher to "twist". I managed it a few times before I started giving it to my husband to twist instead since I was doing the whole root. It was MUCH quicker, MUCH easier, and MUCH cleaner than grating the ginger like I had been doing (which came out just as "mashed" anyway, so there was absolutely no difference there). No more cleaning all the little holes in a small grater! And no more trying to clean all the little holes in the garlic press either.

I got this as a gift for my daughter after reading great reviews. She was over the moon when she received it almost a year ago. She texts me every couple of months to say how much she loves it and that she uses it every day. She says the design is so practical and fits her hands perfectly, so it's easy to use. It's easy to clean and after heavy use, it's still her go to for garlic, nuts, herbs, etc. Great quality!

I've used probably ~ 3-4 presses in my time and the problem is always the same: Cleaning those tiny shred of garlic out of them. I've had cheapo ones, fancy ones with a plastic attachment to push the garlic out, but at the end of the day I'm grabbing a bristled brush to get the chunks out. What a headache. This is arguably as easy to get the garlic in, holds a bit more than a press would, is cheaper, and most important, takes seconds to clean. You may have to use a fork to get the garlic out (then again garlic will stick to a press often as well) but it's a minor inconvenience. I heartily recommend this and show it off to all my friends (my life isn't that exciting). EDIT: This item seems dishwasher safe but water does entrain inside the hollow plastic casing. It will come out slowly over time but I still do not recommend dishwashing this - just rinse it out and put it in the strainer.

にんにくをみじん切りした後、手ににおいがつくのが苦手で、出来る限りにんにくをみじん切りしないように避けて料理していました。 でも、やっぱりにんにくが入ってるのと入っていないのとでは、料理の味が変わってくるので、手軽にできるスライサーの様な道具を探しました。 このガーリックツイストを選んだ理由は、使用した後、みじん切りしたものが取りやすそうなこと、 洗う時に洗いやすそうなことでした。 金額的にちょっと高いな、、と感じていましたが、簡単に取れるし、洗う時は水をジャーっと流せば簡単に落ちるので、とても満足しています！ これでにんにく料理もたくさん作れるようになります♪
