Is there supposed to be packaging? I just received a ziplock bag with a stickers and Allen wrenches--the fret rocker is missing entirely.

Mine came in a ziplock bag with stickers. Looks like you did not receive the correct order. Contact the seller to get what you ordered and arrange a return of the Allen wrenches.

Can this be used on bass?

Yes. Bought this for my partner who is a bass player and uses it to check string height, fret level. Can also use it to measure floating tremolo bridge height on a guitar

What do the numbers on the height gauge represent? Millimeters?

The numbers represent 64ths of an inch. This is the common unit that Fender, Gibson, PRS and others use when specifying string height. I.e. string height at the 12th fret on the Bass E = 5/64" & Treble E =4/64"... Those numbers change depending on the guitar. -Greg

Wher do you measure from, top of line or bottom? Top of string or bottom?

Looking for clearance so I use the bottom of the string, and my digital caliper shows the bottom of the line closer to the 100ths measurement.
