Smart Ink Compatible Ink Cartridge Replacement for HP 953XL 953 XL 4 Multipack (Black XL & C/M/Y) with Advanced Chip Technology to use with HP Officejet pro 7720 7730 7740 8710 8715 8720 8725 Printer

Using these in an HP OfficeJet Pro 7720. It had already updated to April 2026 firmware (2615B — but have turned off auto-updates now) and these worked perfectly; printer reports altered or cloned cartridges but they work flawlessly. Easy to install and fit just like originals they were replacing. I don’t print a huge amount, but what I have printed with these has been perfectly reproduced; not tried photos yet, but mono and colour documents on standard paper have been fine. Not used enough to comment on capacity but the ink levels have barely moved so far. Obviously this depends on what you’re printing. But no complaints so far, will definitely use again. Absolutely worth it for me compared to the ridiculous cost of genuine cartridges…

Worked perfectly for me. I put a new set of cartridges in my HP 7720. I had turned off automatic upgrades first, based on other reviews. I just got a message saying something like, "HP cannot guarantee quality of prints". Prints fine. VERY happy

I wish I'd made the transition to these cartridges a long time ago. The initial setup instructions I found very straightforward and they worked straightaway without any issues. Print quality is more than acceptable. To save £130 against equivalent HP XL cartridges is a complete no brainer.

I was a bit sceptical to start with but since the ink is effectively the same I took a chance. They looked the same and all fitted well and insrtructions were easy to follow.Packaging was great and looked a quality product. Yes, I got the error message and the printer wouldn't accept the cartridges but the support desk helped me solve the issue, despite the software fix not going to plan to start with. I did have to reinstall the printer driver to get my PC to see the printer. I can't confirm if the downgrade has had any negative affects on printing.

I've been using this ink product for 6mths now. The ink itself is of great quality, and I love the product. I thought I would have issues with step up, as it didn't work the first time I installed, but on letting the company know they promptly sent me a replacement, which I set up much more easily 2nd time round.Since then our printer had a malfunction, and since wouldn't recognise the ink cartridges. Got back onto the support chat and fixed!! Before I had even run the Andrew suggested. This company really does have lightening customer service, and they are so pleasant and friendly to deal with! Highly recommend.

And disable auto-update.Our printer has version: EDWINXPP1N002.1849A.00 (and is recommended by SmartInk).DETAILS:Had it printing OK after inserting a Magenta SmartInk HP953XL cartridge! A quality product it seems.NB: Only installed Magenta & printed 2 pages: so not a long-term score!Be prepared to bypass the HP 'rejection of non-HP ink' errors !!!eg "Incompatible ink error": this is HP's doing, not restricted to Smart Ink. Downgrade the firmware?Do this by finding a previous version of printer firmware (see online). There should be a previous version that does NOTt outrightly reject 'non-HP' ink cartridges! Install the firmware.Then... also disable the automatic firmware updating!See instructions supplied in Smart Ink box!!!NB: I had already done this 2-3 years ago, so as to use ink from Cartridge People (who guarantee compatibility btw, but is higher cost)Extra guidance:"System Supply Issue": this may be the ink-channel in the printhead running 'empty' or dry.Remove the printhead, remove cartridges.Ink will spread - cover areas etc etc.Inspect back of the cartridge slots within the printhead: small containers at back should have fluid, visible when tilted etc. Use a torch.If one ink slot is 'dry', insert the problem cartridge/colour. Have the printhead on its back. Allow gravity (and squeeze of the cartridge?) to get some ink back in the printhead.You may need to use Iso-alchohol spray to clean up. At your own risk.Refit the printhead in the printer.Power On: should align and clean printhead.Repeat this cycle until it prints the alignment test page.Print something to test the colours.Worked for me, but might not for you. At your own risk.Alternative for me, was a new printer (which WILL NEVER BE AN H-P AGAIN!)

Needed replacement HP ink carts. Over £100 for the set of 4... outrageous. I've always just gone along with it to avoid the nasty HP warnings & threats. Nonetheless, when I entered the HP cartridge number into Amazon search, the list was almost entirely 3rd party alternatives, with the HP units hidden away at the bottom.So i did a little research. All (most) of the reviews were pretty positive (aren't they always), with just a few people saying they had minor issue but that these were resolved quickly by Smart Ink.Same day delivery & literally a fraction of the cost (£27) , and Amazon are always good with returns anyway, I figured I had nothing to lose. ordered the Smart Ink alternative set of XL cartridges.Box came full of simple to understand instructions plus a complete breakdown on what to do if HP errors did present themselves. Inserted cartridges, waited for the whirring to stop & there it is... "HP cannot be responsible for print quality with non HP products". Great!. Picked OK & that was it... no more error messages, screen went into standard mode, ran a print & bingo,,, quality is just fine. No more error messages. It just works.Would I recommend? You bet! Saved over £80!

Went away for 5 weeks, ink dried up, printing patchy, absolutely useless for printing photos. Gone back to HP cartridges and won't be buying these again. Officejet Pro 8710. I have up rated the review because the supplier refunded the cost of the inks without any request made for a refund. Credit where it's due.

Diese Patronen wurden von meinem HP Officejet Pro 8730 sofort erkannt und funktionieren einwandfrei (Update deaktiviert). Druckbild ist klar, Farben sind kräftig und bisher keine Probleme mit Streifen oder Fehlermeldungen. Für den deutlich günstigeren Preis zur Originalpatrone bin ich sehr zufrieden und würde sie weiterempfehlen.
