Waterdrop G5P700A Alkaline Mineral Reverse Osmosis Water Filter, 700 GPD

After reading a plethora of reviews, I was fairly optimistic. I had moved from years of home-delivered bottled water, to filtering at-home using a large countertop Britta - which was better than the Waterdrop version I had previously used. But I was still displeased because it was plastic. My well water has an unpleasant metallic taste. The water this produces is the best tasting, odorless water I have ever had. Because I didn't have easy access to a power outlet, I had my home contractor install it - for a pittance. He had to cut a small hole in my countertop (which he filled with clear epoxy) to route the cable through the cupboard. Once this was completed, it took just minutes for him to install it. He was able shut-off the water under the sink, not the whole house. The cold water adapter fit perfectly, with no leaks. My contractor said he'd added one to his Amazon wishlist! The unit is amazing! Quiet, great water pressure, and a fast flow. I have instant fresh, great tasting, odorless water. I could not be more pleased! I should have done this years ago. I live alone with 3 cats, and we go through about 5 gallons a week, spending well over $600 a year and having to store four 5-gallon bottles that required a lot of real estate in my small home. Having replaced most plastic storage in my home, this is the pièce de résistance! I highly recommend this to anyone who has water issues or plastic concerns. Well worth the very reasonable price.

Water taste good and it was easy to install. I had an older system that need to replace 5 filters. Having only 2 filters that are easy to replace was a game changer. Experienced no leaks and it’s holding up well. Happy with the purchase.

6-month Update: The RO continues to perform excellently, with no leakage or unexpected issues since installation. We are preparing for our first CF filter replacement; the advisory beeps are audible but not excessively loud (RO unit is installed in a closed-door under-sink cabinet). We also added our refrigerator ice maker to our Waterdrop system, and it seems to be performing well. I believe this RO is a far better system than our old one, and recommend it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Original Review: We purchased and installed this RO filter almost a month ago. Here are our impressions: - The taste of the water produced is excellent, much better than the old system this one replaced. - We experienced no leakage after installation, again an improvement. - It has a much smaller under-sink footprint than our old one. - Filters are easy to remove/replace. - Installation was easy, especially with multiple videos, instructions, and diagrams. - The unit feels very well put together, and all the parts were there. - It makes some normal noise during operation, but not so loud that it is distracting or annoying; our refrigerator ice maker is about the same level. I don't see it as a detractor. - Customer Service: This is where Waterdrop really shined in my family's eyes. Our Customer Service Rep, Krystal X, responded within hours of our initial request for help, and on a weekend to boot. She took the time to gather pertinent trouble information, get it to her engineers, and had a response and had parts on the way almost immediately. It is clear she and Waterdrop care about the quality of their product and taking care of their customers, and stand by their product to fix any concerns immediately. Krystal took personal ownership of our ticket, and saw it through the process to final resolution. I feel like this is a level of customer service that so many businesses simply don't deliver these days; in my opinion she would be an excellent trainer of other reps, or a great supervisor/manager. Please pass on our thanks to her, Waterdrop! As mentioned above we had a small issue, but since it was resolved and didn't involve something we saw in other reviews, I think it may be a one-off circumstance that was satisfactorily fixed by Waterdrop. Stop using Britta filters and buying bottled water! I have owned two water drops now one installed with a well and very hard heavy iron water. The filters lasted more than 6 months and water tasted like distilled water. We moved into our second home with chlorinated city water and again water tastes like distilled and reeds 0when treated for particles. So easy to install and worth every penny. Also if you have baby, the ability to just make bottles without buying distilled or bottled water is really reassuring knowing your baby’s getting safe, clean water.

I purchased the G5P500A unit back in January 2026 and installation was straightforward. The hardest part was needing to drill a new hole into my quartzite countertop, which was fairly easy. I also needed to drill a hole into the drainage pipe for the waste water (red tube). Aside from that, all the needed accessories are included with the product. After completely installing the unit, I never had any leaks. The water tastes great and clean. I tested the water with a TDS meter with my tap water reading 450ppm and 50-80ppm with the filtered water. I also tested the pH which was in 8-9 range. Fast forward to July and I purchased a CF filter here on Amazon, from Waterdrop. The CF filter needs to be replaced every 6 months and the RO filter every 24 months. After I replaced the CF filter, that was when the problems started. Immediately after installing the new CF filter, there was a huge drop in the water pressure and at times almost completely stops. I reinstalled the filter multiple times and attempted to troubleshoot by resetting the unit, checking all lines with no luck. I figured it must have been a bad filter. I then requested for a replacement filter from Amazon and was sent a new one. This new one had a slightly better result but still had a significant drop in water pressure. I then reached out to Waterdrop customer service. After some troubleshooting and explaining the situation, they sent me another CF filter which was ALOT better than the ones purchased on Amazon, but still with a noticeable drop in water pressure. Compared to videos I had when I initially installed the unit, the water pressure was only around 80%. I notified Waterdrop of this concern, and they sent me a new overall unit to replace my old one. I now have a brand new unit installed and the water pressure is back to normal. I performed the same tests and the TDS and pH are all as expected. Despite the issues I had when replacing the CF filter, Customer Service came through with flying colors. Doreen was the rep that assisted me throughout the whole process and was nothing short of excellent. The assistance provided was smooth and reassuring that they have great customer service reps. I love this RO unit. I got mine when it was on sale and has been amazing. Next time I might not purchase the filters from Amazon and will just go through the Waterdrop website instead since their pricing, the last time I checked, were pretty much the same. I don't know if I was just pretty unlucky and received 2 faulty filters. Despite the issues I went through, I would still highly recommend this product.

The product has been exactly what I expected and hoped it would. The installation is fairly straightforward, you have to work in the space under your sink with water pipes so I won't say it's an easy job but the smart connectors and adapter supplied by Waterdrop make it as easy as it can be! The instructions are good, not great, I paid careful attention and was able to get it right first time. I bought the Alkaline version (the G5P500A not the G5P500) - that was slightly confusing because the product packaging doesn't indicate whether the unit you receive is a G5P500A or a G5P500 - and there is a single product listing which shows two different colors, but in fact one "color" is the G5P500A and the other is the G5P500. I contacted Waterdrop Support to confirm that I had received the correct product and they pointed out that the filter in the G5P500A is very clearly marked WD-G5P500A-CF. They were super helpful and understanding because I had also ordered a replacement filter and had not ordered the right one for the G5P500A - I was able to return the wrong one and get a replacement with no extra cost. So I'd say the two different versions of the G5P500 could be more clearly distinguished in the product listing - but Doreen in customer support went above and beyond to clear things up for me. Most important of all I'm getting great water quality from the unit (~22TDS) - I am on well water with an iron filter that makes the water good for household use but I wanted to purify that further to give me good quality drinking water. The unit makes a whirring sound when it's in use but it's not too loud. There is a brief delay after you turn on the tap - but I expected that because this is a tankless unit, which is what I wanted - then the water flows at a good rate - I haven't timed it but I'd guess about 90sec to fill a coffee pot. I haven't had to change filters but I took the filter out to check the model and it easy to remove and put back. Overall I'd recommend the product and customer support. I also got an excellent price during Prime Days!

good product easy to install and water tastes fine only has 2 level filters therefore 4 star otherwise no issues

Installation was simple and straightforward. The only difficulty for me was a lack of an outlet under the sink. I had planned to use the one for the dishwasher but when I got it pulled out it was hardwired. Luckily the cord is plenty long and I was able to reach the outlet for my microwave. All the water connections were easy. The tee to pull the water supply was multi sized so it fit all common connections. Once it was up and running the difference was immediately noticeable. Our water was very high in turbidity, so while it tested perfectly safe it looked like used bath water. The water is so clear now it's almost invisible in the glass. We're very satisfied.

The continuous flow is great. Knowing it has a high clean to waste ratio I feel good about it saving me money. I removed an older (bulky) unit then installed this unit. It took me about 10 minutes to install it. No issues at all. Saved a lot of space too.

I haven't installed this unit yet, the 5 stars is for customer support. I wanted to share the information I received for fellow cat people because it could save your cat's life! Unlike humans, cats require a slightly neutral/acidic Ph (6-6.5). If their Ph balance becomes too acidic or too alkaline, they could develop urinary stones and need to be put on a prescription diet and/or have surgery (in the best case scenarios). I called customer support to inquire if I could simply remove the alkaline portion of this filter for when I'm filling my cats' water dish. She explained that the unit wouldn't work with one of the filters removed, but gave me a brilliant workaround. Here's the plan: I will purchase a replacement filter that's NOT alkaline (similar model number but without the A; the non-alkaline filter for this unit is G5P500-CF), then switch out that filter when I'm filling my cats' dishes. When I'm done using it, she advised me to store it in there refrigerator to prolong the shelf-life. She said that I will need to retire that filter after 3 months, whether it's all used up or not. While I wish it would keep longer when not in use, I am thrilled that the company offered this workaround solution. I can't imagine too many other companies would be willing to be creative and flexible like that. Their kindness and willingness to help me find a solution was impressive.
