The Fire Cat (I Can Read Level 1)

I absolutely loved this book as a child, I was in and out of the hospital and doctors offices for the first 10 years of my life and every time I went to the Children's hospital (that I now work in) I HAD to find this book to read in the waiting room. It was my favorite book as a child, so I had to find it for my son and I was so happy I found it here. I bought it for my 8 yr old son and he loves it! It's a great story. I enjoyed my son reading it to me and he enjoyed reading it several times in a row. It's a good story about how sometimes your not meant for what others think you should be but are meant for something else and excel at it, a good lesson for young kids and adults as well.

I had this book as a child learning to read. It was one of the books I kept growing up and read to my. Son. My son loved this book as a toddler. I read it so him so many times he had it memorized and knew when I missed a word. Later he read it to me. I ordered a new one for his son's first Easter. Now my son can read it repeatedly to his son. Fond memories for me and now my son creating memories with his son. 3 generations will have enjoyed this story.

My child read an excerpt of this book, and wanted the whole story, I bought it for him to read to me.Very good.

One of my favorite books to read to my boys and now I'm so happy to be able to share it with my granddaughters.

There was writing up in a corner which was likely from a previous owner. I was certain that I had marked for a new book. I wasn't pleased with the the corners and pages showed some faded dingy color changes.

I learned to read with this book and loved it to pieces. Now I am giving my niece and nephew the book to learn as well

This was one of the stories I used to love to read as a child. I loved it then and still do. I purchased this copy for my children and they seem to enjoy it too. I am very disappointed that the pages seem to easily come out, especially near the front since we often seem to read the first chapter at story time. The pages appear to be adhered with glue on the edge like a notebook with removable pages so it's not made for little readers that are tough on books which is disappointing in a level 1 reader.

I have always hated this book. The illustrations are awful. But I gave it 4 stars because my children, now 41 and 43 loved it when they were little. I bet I’ve read it 1000 times. I bought this one for my son so he’d have to endure reading it over and over to his 2 children.

I Can Read Books Level 1。語彙数に関しては、Step into Reading Step 1, Step 2　と同レベルですが、総語数ははるかに多いので、ご注意を。(文自体も比較的長いものが多い。)内容は、やんちゃな野良猫が立派な消防士になるまでの成長物語です。間違いなく、I Can Read Books Level 1の傑作と言えるでしょう。

ピクルスという猫の成長物語。はじめはやんちゃだったけど、消防猫として仕事を与えられる中で立派な猫になります。「いつか大きなことをしたい」と願っていたピクルスが仕事の中で、きちんと仕事をやり遂げる姿はとても素敵です。I can readの１なので、英文が簡単で読みやすいのは当然、かもしれませんが、話の筋もしっかりしていて、楽しめます。楽しいので、もし購入を迷われているようでしたら、是非、お試し下さい。

なかなか面白かったです。子猫を追いかけたりしている姿から、悪い猫とレッテルを張られているピクルス。しかしMrs.Goodkindだけはそうは見ていませんでした。消防署に預けられ、その後の活躍には驚きました。猫の話ですが、なんか感じるものがありました。

My brother was starting out his reading 30 years ago when the elementary school system in America supplied him with a bag of books. Danny and the Dinosaur (I Can Read Books (Harper Paperback)) , Little Bear (I Can Read Book 1) , I Can Read: Sammy the Seal (I Can Read - Level 1 (Quality))  was also in that bag. Whoever chose those wonderful books earned their salary. I remember each one and when my youngest brother came to three years of age, he could recite all of them.But Pickles was my pick of the bunch. There are some stories, so simply written that the story is undisguised and shines. And this is my abiding memory of this book. Three decades on, I feel the following bit contains the most realistic passage than any children's book for this age should have:"Pickles, you are not a bad cat.You are not a good cat.You are good and bad.And bad and good.You are a mixed up catWhat you need is a good home.Then you will be good."And this notorious cat chaser gets rescued by the fire service, finds a home with them, learns responsibility and completes his life circle...Perhaps it is the inherent quality of tale that my daughter asked for a repeat as soon as I first read it to her. Great story was a little upset it was definitely a used book before I got it.
