Just buy it!
This is the best stud finder I have ever used. Detects both wood and metal studs. I recently used it to locate the frame work in my camper which has aluminum studs. Works flawless. Excellent product.

Not for the average do it yourself person, but works well when you learn how to properly use it. Can mistake fire breaks for studs.

Save your money on this one
I am a big fan of the Milwaukee M12 line. I have the copper cutter, PVC cutter, and the impact driver. All of which work well. I thought having a good quality stud finder would be a nice addition since I owned the batteries and chargers already. THIS TOOL DOES NOT WORK. It is consistently 3/4" to 1" off. I know this for a fact because I tried to use it on 1/2" sheetrock to hang plumbing in a mechanical room. Fortunately I had marked the floor and taken pictures before the drywall went up. It is supposed to mark edge of stud-- not close enough.

Great performance only if you know what you are looking for...
In general, this is a pretty decent stud finder. We have had pretty good luck with it on steel studded walls, but have had much less success with walls which contain both steel and wood. Sometimes the readouts from the unit leave you scratching your head wondering what is really behind the wall since you have to switch modes and recalibrate for deep scanning or shallow scanning, wood or metal...and the results are rarely consistent. In short, you need to have a pretty good idea of what is in your wall already, and this will work well. Ideally, we were hoping for a tool which could detect unknown wall compositions since this is typically what we face in our business. If we have an architectural drawing with studs labeled, we don't need a stud finder at all!

Milwaukee sub-scanner
Through out many years in the construction trade I have seen / tried many different wall scanners - this Milwaukee sub-scanner is the best yet ! At first , cost is high but when you check out all it can do such as being very accurate stud finder in dense walls ( 5/8 drywall with 1/2 plywood ) . this unit finds those studs ! The other features it has will be tested In the near future projects .
