Great satellite system!
It takes 5 days for me to get the package, which I think is a really valuable deal. I would not say it is that great - still, it is a budget satellite system, but I would say it works great as an entry-level system when you only need to pay less than $250. Worked pretty well with my Sony STRDH520 receiver (also entry level Sony STRDH520 7.1 Channel 3D AV Receiver (Black) ). 4 satellite speakers are solidly built, rather heavy and with pretty good finish (you can tell it from the really cheap speakers which have glue leftover on top) And so does the central speaker (but it is pretty big! so think about your stand)The subwoofer is OK - with a 10'woofer, it can produce pretty powerful bass. But compared with larger systems, the sound is not that clear.I have used two "big brand" small satellite systems before - one is the computer system Klipsch ProMedia 5.1, another is JBL's old 5.1 satellite. I would say this system's surrounding effect is as good as the two. The tweeter of Klipsch is definitely better, and all of the three systems cannot avoid the "digital" feeling of sound. But again, for a low cost, relatively sizable system, this Boston Acoustics exceeded my expectation.Overall, strongly recommended!

Sounds great, but several plastic parts broken right out of the box.
PROS:- They sound fantastic, especially for the price point! Wonderful range, deep, rich bass. Hearing things I have never heard from movies / games / soundtracks I know very well.- Price point! From what I gather, this system used to be around $700 for the set and has dropped over the past few years (why, I'm not sure, but I'll get to that).- They look fantastic. The black wood finish makes my set up look all the more impressive.- Size: They aren't tiny, but are not too big; perfect for my small apartment.CONS:- Out of the box, one of the subwoofer feet fell off. Looking closer, it was already cracked and had rubber cement all over the area, as if it was attempted to be repaired at the factory! The way it was cracked it could not be repaired with glue, so I had to find a longer screw to re-secure the foot. Worked perfectly.- Out of the box, 3 of the plastic mounting studs on the center speaker cover were broken almost all the way off. I just left the cover off for now (speakers look cool) but am JB-Welding the studs back on as we speak.- The speakers look awesome, but the inset design of the covers makes them look weird if you leave them off.Overall I love these. I couldn't find anything better for the price point. I hooked them up with some solid 12g speaker wire and paired them with a Denon AVR-2112CI and they blew my pants off when I fired it up.To the point about these being old/retired models (hence the cheap price): I'm assuming that there were continuing problems with all of the cheap plastic used (feet, cover mounts, etc) which is probably why these ended up being so cheap. Just a guess but because of the price point I'm willing to live with it.

Nice for the price!
I got this for $198.99, so I was quite pleased with the sound I'm able to get out of this sound system. It's playing right now, actually.I can see why people who paid $750 retail (or anything close to it) would be displeased. This speaker system got 3 stars from such people! It was rated lower due to construction quality and lack of bass/punch...not too far off. For people expecting $750 quality & performance. But for $200-$250? It cranks just as well, if not better, than similarly priced systems. And the construction, while not stellar, is good enough for what I paid.Setup was neither easy or hard; just tedious. I'm running all 5 speaks with banana plugs, sub via pre-out on a Denon receiver.By the way, you WILL need an audio receiver unit. For those used to plug-and-play computer speakers, this is a system that must be powered by a separate receiver.

Sweet sound
I never purchased a sound system before. When I gave these a try I was very excited to hear the clear, beautiful, full sound that came out.. I am very pleased with this set up. When choosing the name Boston Acoustics, I thought I would get a good product but I really got a great quality system.

awsome sound reproduction!
the sound generated from these speakers is un believable! gunfight scenes will make you have flashbacks! quality is excellent for the price, you could spend more but i dont think you should. unless you have very large home theater to fill with sound. my whole house vibrates! speakers are paired with denon reciever also very good for the $.

Amazing speakers terible sub
Speaker system has unreal sound quality, I have them paired with a Onkyo TN-636 in a large room (approx 3200cu.ft.). I would very much recommend these when paired with a high end receiver. But don't waste your money on the sub woofer I replaced mine the next day with Polk Audio PSW505 and will never look back!!! High end receiver + bigger sub and you will not regret buying these speakers.
