Pretty decoration, flicker should be brighter
These little guys look great in the house, far better than the standard hardware store plastic white candle with the plastic brass base. I also love the sensor feature which preserves the battery. Initially the sensor feature didn't work because I had the candle sitting up right next to the window. This issue was solved by pulling the candle back to the edge of the window sill so the sunlight could hit the sensor over the window panes. I also have a wrap around porch across 5 of the 7 candles I displayed for Christmas, and the sensor still worked even with the porch overhang. My biggest issue, and the reason for the 4 star rating, is that the flicker of the candle is very dim and cannot be seen well from the front of the house. I love the flicker feature because it looks more realistic. I was on the fence about the fact that the flicker is orange instead of white. This too is more realistic but I think it also contributes to the fact that it's not bright enough. Overall these are a good buy and I will certainly display them again next year. I wish they were a few bucks cheaper to account for the fact that they cannot be seen when coming up the driveway, but obviously it didn't stop me from purchasing them, nor did I return them.

Nice warm feeling through the extended winter
I looked at alot of options for this candle, and I have to say, I'm pretty happy with this overall. I don't love it - it would be nicer if it were 'real' material instead of the composite base, etc. - but it's grown on me during the past two months we've had it in use. It's certainly an improvement over the corded ones we used to have, even though those bases were metal. These are nice, unobtrusive, the cats don't knock them over even though they're light and, best of all, you can set them and forget them. Turn on the switch and you'll never have to go around and 'turn on the house' again at dusk, and do it all in reverse at bed time. Love it. I worried that the batteries would run low quickly - dark comes quickly in winter in New England - but we've had the same batteries in for two months now with no need to change them. I'm glad I bought a dozen - I'll probably pick up some more next season for those auxiliary windows.

These candles are wonderful! Despite what another reviewer said
These candles are wonderful! Despite what another reviewer said, the color is a natural color for a flame and the flicker of the LED is also very natural. If you're looking for the older white bulb in the window, this is not for you. From the street, it truly looks like a live candle in the window. Charming! While the base is plastic, it's well made and looks like pewter. Not fooling anyone, of course, but it's an attractive design an sits well on a window sill. I can't remark on the light sensor as I have a larger frame that blocks it, so I turn these off at bed time. As I've read others make this remark, it would be an improvement to move this sensor to the middle of the candle instead of having it in the base. It's small enough to be undetectable but would vastly improve the intention of "on at night and off at dawn".Another feature which I appreciate is the LED bulb. Low power draw, yes, but also it emits no heat, so it's a lot safer to use around curtains or blinds.

Good Tidings Window Candles
I also was worried about the reviews commenting about the orange colored flicker but decided to go for them since most of the other reviews had hints of great satisfaction. I ordered 10 for my windows, not just for Christmas as I have always had candles in my windows and replaced them so many times, batteries and the solid brass had weight but always needed polished, forgetting to turn off or turn on, would go to replace some that no longer worked, not too much fun that I just about gave up. Walla! I couldn't wait to set them up and what a pleasant surprise, they are fantastic, actually hurried and ordered a few extras just for backup. They are light but no brass polishing and right away I discovered i needed to set them up about an inch higher for the sensor, otherwise they would stay on. My temporary fix is a cube of styrofoam cut to match the base, width and length and they look great, on and off just at the perfect time and my batteries are still strong at 45 days, and at minimum 12 hours each day. Perfecto!!!

Very good for battery-operated LED
I think these are pretty good for a battery-operated LED. I am trying to replace some old hard-wired Christmas window candles which have a lovely "glow" but having to plug them in doesn't work in our new house. Of course battery-operated incandescents still give off the prettiest light, however they only last a night or two on a set of batteries! Of the LED candles I've tried, these are the best so far. The color is a little orange-y, but not the totally unrealistic blue-ish or flourescent white which I've seen in other products. Also the "flickering" is pretty good, not perfect, but close to my nice "flameless" candles and much better than the "flashing" I've seen in other candles. Also they are bright enough to be easily seen from the street. I wish they had a setting for just "on" and not "flicker", but they are a good option for a good price - I'll keep them.

next time I purchase something like this, I may go with the steady light ...
They have lasted from December 1 to today (January 5) without a change of battery, and they are still going strong. I would say that is quite a feat since I live in New York and it has been cloudy out since October. They are light sensitive, so the darker it is outside, the brighter they burn. The only thing I would change is that, next time I purchase something like this, I may go with the steady light instead of the candle flicker. To me, it looked like there was a short in the electrical socket. But there wasn't; the "candles" were designed that way, and I knew it when I bought them.
