I can’t open or close it. Do I need to unlock them or something?** A: They were tight to start. You have to lift the gate up and down a couple of times to get the hydraulics working. **Q: does left and right both come in a single order?** A: Yes,set comes with 2 rods and they work for Left And right. **Q: Is this for the left and right sides?** A: as I recall (it is getting to be a few months ago), the parts are identical for left and right sides. because they are cylindrical, the parts rotate to fit. Installation tip: take the retaining clips off the existing installed OEM parts you are replacing. But DO NOT remove the retaining clips from the replacement parts prior to installation.
