Spode Blue Italian Teacup and Saucer, 20-ounce Capacity, Jumbo Tea Set, Coffee Mug, Cup for Tea, Lattes, Espressos, and Hot Beverages - Blue &White

This is not a regular sized set for serving tea or any beverage, period! It is GIGANTIC 😄 When the description says it is 20 oz capacity, it is true! The cup suits for fruits/soup/cereal and the saucer suits for a fruits/salad/sandwich. The diameter of the cup is 5.2” and the saucer is 8.2”.I’m so torn as I was looking for a set like this for serving espresso/latte/coffee. I would not use this set for those beverages as it would take a while for me to finish one full cup and I also have to constantly heat it up to keep the leftover liquid warm/hot as the cup is simply too big. I wonder why the manufacture produced such a big size set for tea cup. I wish that they shrank down this set in size then it would be perfect or made another smaller size. The quality and the details of the set are great (ideal design for cup and saucer). The set is very well made without any flaw. It is sturdy and not too heavy. The handle and the saucer are easy to hold. I think for the size of the set, the price is ok ($36 plus tax).I’m keeping them anyway due to the quality and patterns.

I am a huge fan of Spode's Blue Italian line. One thing to remember is that this is a substantial size cup and saucer -- 20 oz. You will either love it or hate it. LOL. For me, it's great for that double dose of coffee in the morning without having to have 2 cups. Also great as a soup bowl! As with all Spode products, well made and attractive.

I have a soup owl with a handle that I use all the time to heat up canned soup. It had a matching saucer, which unfortunately broke. Went online and found this beautiful bowl with handle and saucer and it just arrived. It’s sturdier that I feared would be and just as beautiful as pictured. The price was far less than I’d expect for such a quality item this will be a thing to cherish.

I love my new jumbo Coffee cup and saucer. Perfect to make my large latte from my new Nespresso machine! Also would be great to serve soup in. Gorgeous!!!

For the last 15 years + I have used Spode Jumbo cups daily, but these older ones are of much larger capacity than the newer Spode Jumbo cup reviewed here. Here are my comments on this model in no particular order:PROs:- Great ergonomics. If like me, you have experience with the older Spode jumbo cups you will love the ergonomics of this one. The smaller size translates into much better handling:* Rounded, perfectly shaped handle - this cup is a joy to hold. The handle provides a perfect thumb rest and one never feels compelled to support the cup at the bottom for fear of the handle breaking. As a matter of fact, I have had several Spode Blue Room Jumbo Cups develop handle problems in the past - I suspect that the handles could not support the heavy, filled cups very well and the material cracked after a while. No fear of this happening here!* Love the saucer that comes up quite high and cradles the cup securely. No great fear of accidental spills here, also not when transporting the cup from A to B.- Very nice Spode quality. High quality decor and materials, no unevenness or other problems. In all my years of using those cups I have never had one break or crack on me (with the exception of the handle on the older, larger cups - see above).CONs:- Only one, and the reason for the one star deduction: The inside bottom is slightly convex which makes it difficult to stir as the spoon tends to slide off the raised center toward the somewhat ridged edge of the cup. I am not a fan.Overall a great large cup that I will use for many years to come. One last note: The 20 oz.capacity is theory only and would require to fill it to the rim. The actual capacity is at least one oz less, depending on the fill level.

Love the size but for the price this should be make in U.K. as it says in description. It is made in China, I will be returning

Love the pattern, if you love blue and white and Spode YKYK. But it was the sturdiness that really surprised me. I knew it was oversized and was rather concerned that with that and it being more delicate that it would not take much time for me to chip or break it. But this is fantastic and will be used daily for coffee, tea and even soup.
