I received this lathe 2 days ago and made my first cuts today. The lathe went up in smoke during the first facing pass. Watch the video to see for yourself. I used the lathe for less than 2 minutes total. Initially, I tried to face the material and the cross slide stopped advancing despite me continuing to spin the handle. I immediately backed the tool off the material, tested the cross slide and returned to attempt to face the material again. This is when the video starts. I begin facing the material, about .012" deep, and the spindle bogs down. This didn't happen on the initial pass. I hesitate because of the spindle losing RPMs and then back it off the material. At this point I can smell electronics burning. A few seconds later the puff of smoke emerges and the fuse is blown. I replaced the fuse and tried running the spindle not under any load to try to diagnose the problem. The spindle would only start intermittently. I contacted Vevor asking for assistance diagnosing the problem and sending new parts. I will update this review once the issue is resolved. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone that is considering purchasing this. Update (1/15/26): The customer service team at Vevor has been responsive. They are sending a new spindle motor, which they say will take a couple weeks to get delivered since it's not in stock at a local warehouse. Hopefully I am able to install the new motor fairly easily and start cutting chips soon after it arrives.

Received unscathed, motor and display worked perfectly out of the box. The spindle\motor area is different from other 7x ** lathes, motor is built into the spindle no drive belt to worry about. The cross slide and ways are the same as the others meaning it needs cleaning and major adjustments, I think it is well worth the money with some tinkering and adjusting it will be a great addition to your shop

Mine came broken out of the box. Turned it on and the fuse immediately blew. Contacted their support, and they sent a new "head box", which was the spindle+housing assembly (which contained the motor coils), for me to replace by myself. After replacing it the control board popped and smoked. They are sending a replacement board as of a few days ago, which will take another couple of weeks to get here. I've had this for almost a month and it's still doesn't work. Btw, they say that the spindle is MT4, but it's not. The max diameter of MT4 is supposed to be 1.2310", the minimum diameter of the spindle bore is listed as 32mm (1.260"). I'm not sure what the actual bore size is. They also don't mention that it can't do some threads within the range they list with the provided gears, it's buried somewhere in the manual *after* you get it.

This came quickly and well packaged. It was easy to place and plug in and it worked perfectly. There was no damage in shipping. The price was right and it is well made.

Waste of money for a 2 inch lathe. Thought it was 7” but they grossly lied to everyone. Max stock it can hold and face is 2.5” (two and a half inches)! Everything that can be adjusted, needs adjusted. Milling chips everywhere and in everything so nothing moves freely. Sounds like sandpaper when working the slide. And heres the kicker! The crate was perfect but the guard was broken in half and some piece of the headstock is hanging on the faceplate. With the with the crosslide all the way out and the tool all the way in the most you can face is 2.5”. Thats my biggest $800 complaint with this overpriced junk.
