Fortessa Still 18/10 Stainless Steel Flatware, 5 Piece Place Setting, Service for 1,Silver

I ordered this flatware set because it's neither completely plain nor frilly. Seeing it in person, I'm mostly pleased with the design, but it does look a little more "restaurant-like" than it looked in the pictures online--particularly the knife. Overall, I believe it will suit my needs though. Each piece of the set is substantial and weighty but not awkward to hold. The finish is very shiny. For your reference, I measured the pieces against a standard size set I'm replacing, and all but the teaspoon is about 3/4 inches longer, and the bowl of the soup spoon is bigger. I believe the set will look good with my heavy stoneware dishes, which are my "everyday" dishes. One reason I didn't give this set 5 stars is because the teaspoon is out of proportion to the rest of the pieces. It's actually 1/4 inch shorter than the teaspoons I'm replacing and the bowl is slightly smaller. They will be fine as coffee/tea spoons, but they seem slightly small to use for dessert spoons. Unfortunately, the soup spoons are much too big to use for dessert spoons, so I will use the teaspoons.

Continental Size & Weight, Simple ElegenceThis flatware set has generous Continental/European-style size and weight, e.g. the SALAD fork is the size of a place-size/American-size flatware set's DINNER fork. EVERYTHING IS A BIT BIGGER and 1" longer except the teaspoon. My biggest complaint about this set was that the teaspoon was around 5.5" or less--shorter than most place-size/American-size flatware sets.The butter knife is almost perfect and beautiful. The forks are very sharp at the end. The dinner spoon is fairly large and you “feel” on the side of your mouth/lips.DESIGN: The design is simple elegance. It does have an "old" type look to it. It doesn't stand out much and is very plain and traditional. On the upside, the minimal design and pattern make it easy to clean.METAL: The metal quality and design are excellent and flawless. The 18/10 doesn’t make much of a difference. After one use and wash, the 18/10 Stainless doesn't look much different than a 18/0 set so 18/10 is not an important factor.OVERALL: I recommend it if you want something very traditional, classy but if you're used to place-size/American-size flatware, you won't like the Continental/European-style size.

but, I felt compelled to say how wonderful this set of stainless is. Nice heft, nice finish. I believe this set is more for adult use since they are large (salad forks are the size of my last set's dinner forks - and tablespoons are more soup spoon size). Also, steak knives are serrated enough to cut meat with. Nice restaurant quality & I will be proud to set a table with this! Price is quite reasonable, too. As to Amazon, upon ordering, I was informed that this set was backordered. Amazon kept me informed as to when it would ship. First order arrived and there was a flaw in the finish on one of the knife handles. I was advised to send the whole set back (postage paid by Amazon) and they would send a new set. New set arrived in a timely fashion and I was notified when the defective set was received by them. AWESOME customer service.

Overpriced 1 set of silverware only

I had eaten with a set of Fortessa flatware at a local high end restaurant. I ordered several settings from Amazon and could not be happier. The weight and feel are excellent. I have run them in the dishwasher multiple times and had no issues. I will be buying more place settings as they are far better than the cheaper everyday flatware I purchased at my local chain big box store.

While the quality of the set is top-notch, the sizes of the dinner fork & spoon are huge, and salad fork sized like normal dinner fork. The teaspoon looks minute by comparison, and when set out, pieces appear disproportionate. The description doesn't indicate European sizing, but should. Well made, finely detailed, heavy weight material, but too cumbersome and large for my medium-sized female hands. Curiously, though, the teaspoon seems smaller than the norm, perhaps demitasse or desert size would be a better description. Overall, disappointed with this purchase, going back.

Beautiful style

This is a timeless set, will match anything and everything no problem. No bling, will not stand out, rather blend in with your decor. They are large and hefty but not oversized. Wash well and I am very pleased.
