MEGAWARE KEELGUARD 27021 SKEGGUARD Fix Broken Motor Skeg, Prevent Damage

This is a great option to fix a broken lower keel of a mercrusier alpha one stern drive, easy to install,

I installed this on my 1989 Thundercraft with a 4.3 Mercruiser and Alpha One, Gen I outdrive. It slid on smoothly, fit snugly, and installed easily with the included hardware and hex wrenches. The only tool needed was a drill and 1/4" bit. I installed this to replace another skeg protector that did its job when we hit some submerged rocks. As you can see in the before pic, the skeg was saved by the previous protector. A worthwhile investment!

All I have to say... is thank you Keelguard! Your skegguard saved my lower unit. I am now on my second skegguard.

Fit and install was great. Very robust. I had brode part of the skeg years ago. Five years ago, I had an aluminum welder add skeg back on the lower unit. That was 90 dollars and it lasted about two years. If I had known about this fix then, I would have saved my money and still had a skeg the last two years. Without the skeg steering control and prop protection is very limited. I was able to straighten a bent blade on the stainless prop and feel good that there is more protection whether it is the water on dragged on the ramp.

These are a great way to protect your Skeg, or repair damage. Both of the skegs on my Formula got a bit chewed up hitting a sandbar last season. Not only do these 'repair' the damage by sliding over the skegs, they protect against future damage and look great! The installation could not have been easier, slide them on, tap them with a rubber mallet to ensure a good fit, drill two small holes and lock the guard on with the included bolts with locktite already applied.

fits great, came with everything you need...I just slipped in on and drilled the wholes then screwed it together. Impossible to screw up. Just make sure you got a sharp drill bit. Make it easy on yourself.

Skeg guard fits perfect on Alpha one gen 1 skeg. My original skeg was a little banged up and this was a cheaper fix than having someone weld on a new skeg. Looks good with my stainless steel prop as well.

Used to cover a chipped up skeg and it looks great. Install was easy but you'll need a good drill and a 1/4" bit. As some have noted in the reviews, there are 2 Alpha Ones - a Gen I and a Gen II. Make sure you get for the correct one.
