Rotary Fly Tying Vise - Peak Fishing Vise With Pedestal Base

I tried to get a rotary vise for less $$. I returned two before taking the $150 plunge. Based on other reviews bashing the plastic (really, nylon) screws I bought a brass replacement with a wing end. In retrospect it would have been ok either way. I do think the wing is an improvement. It gives me more than enough leverage to really tighten when desired. The hex end requires use of a tool. Solidly grips smallish hooks 16 14 12... and solidly grips 1/0 to 5/0. No wiggle. Easy to adjust the grip to the hook size. The large base is a plus. Very stable. The white color of the base is nice. I have no prior experience with true rotary. The $400 ish rotary alternatitives may have something to offer. (You'd hope...) I do work on some flies from various angles. The ability to rotate is really useful at those times and is my reason for owning this well made excellent quality vise. I wonder at some of the terrible reviews. My experience unboxing and using this vise has been very good. So far perhaps a hundred size 16 thru size 5/0. No reason to suspect it wont last a lifetime. I did not but this from Amazon but I did use these reviews and felt compelled to add my 2 cents.rsamber, 40 plus years avid fly tyer, first time rotary vise user.

Decent vice, but the thread holder cuts my thread, not a big deal until.....I e-mailed customer service and received an incredibly condescending response. I tie alot of bugs, and I thought this was a great CO company given the feedback from my Umpqua friends. Would have expected better. Oh well, live free and die.
