Heckuva deal!!
These little lights are the bomb!Considering that they run off of oneâ AAâ battery they are extremely bright. Add in that they also have a COB ( Chip On Board) light panel built into the side that is also extremely bright and acts as a miniature floodlight⌠You do need to cycle the switch in the tail cap in order to access your desired function so the only two things that are detrimental are : cycling the tail switch and battery life. I think that there might be an inverter or voltage doubler to boost the 1.5v of the AA cell up to 3 volts or so to get the brightness that is produced, but at the cost of battery life. Feed em some good Alkaline batteries and scatter them around wherever you expect to need a flashlight or give them to family and friends. Iâm ordering my 3rd package (15 lights) and I think I still have 2. These are cheap enough to scatter far and wide, and powerful enough to actually be extremely useful.Nothing like the dim penlight flashlights us Graybeards grew up with!!Great product and aGreat price for a decent quality product! ( And no- I wasnât paid or comped to write this! )

I bought two sets for home and Emergency Packs. They are very nearly perfect.
I used these to replace the flashlights in my Emergency Packs and supplies. Because of the COB LED capability and the clip, these have ALSO replaced my rechargeable camping lanterns. They pull double-duty in a smaller package.I also dedicated a few for home.I tested these with EBL 2800 mAh rechargeable NiMH AAs and got over four hours of runtime using the COB LED.They are BRIGHT and small. Their size and three light settings make them very versatile.I am giving them 5 Stars and they have earned that. But there are two modifications that would truly make them perfect.1. Position the COB LED opposite the clip rather than to one side. This would make it easier to use it as a mini flood light when clipped to your clothes.2. Add a bit of knurling to the end cap to make it a bit easier to screw and unscrew it when replacing batteries.

Side lighting makes the difference
This is a pack of 5 LED flashlights. The flashlight has a side light which is what differentiates from most others. The COB side light is useful when the flashlight can't be held and is also good for room illumination. The LED stays bright until the AA battery is close to depletion. At dim setting the light can stay on for a couple of days continuously. What I do not like is the multiple modes. It has bright main light, dim main light, bright side light, and dim side light. The mode is not remembered and starts with the bright main light when turned on initially. It has to be tapped multiple times to get to the desired mode.I wish it could come in other colors. At least a blue or green color would stand out and easier to locate the flashlight.

Super bright and feel good in the hand
The last of my flash lights at home finally died so I decided to get some new ones. I ordered these because it has a torch/lantern portion at the top for power outages. All 5 flashlights came in one box so they were packaged to be sold in 5's. They felt really good in the hand and all 5 of them works out of the box. There is no instruction but the function was easily figured out:1st click: Brightest Flashlight2nd click: Off3rd click: Normal Flashlight4th click: Off5th click: Torch/Lantern Light6th click: Off7th click: Flashing Torch/Lantern8th click OffThe clicker is mechanical, so whichever cycle you stopped at will start off from there next time. You can zoom to narrow the beam on the flashlight by pulling the front part out (make it longer). When you zoom to the narrowest beam, it shows the shape of led as shown my my picture. So if you are expecting a tight little circle, you are out of luck. The light is really really bright. I look into the widest zoom of the flashlight and it blinded me for a while.Overall, I think I got really great values out of these. One of the best part is that they took only 1 AA battery. I have a case of AA in my house from Costco at all time. I am putting one in each car and a few around the house.

Great Idea! Bad Switches
I don't know why they wanted me to rate 'thickness" for this review. Maybe brightness, or ruggedness? Anyway, I've ordered a lot of these types of flashlights, these being the first with the little COB LED side light in this price range. All five fired up first time and are working. 4 have AA alkaline 1,1/2 volt cells and one with a 3.6 volt AA-sized 14xxx series battery. The AA ones are all the same brightness and are as focusable as the non-COB flashlites. They are not blazing bright beams. They are brighter than any two celled incandescent flashlights, about 140%. They have a very white light, not yellow like standard incandescents. With fresh batteties, it hurts to look at the light or thr COB. The cob is about 70% of the larger COBs on the $10 type two-three AA cell flashlights or your Dollar Store 3-cell stickup COB lights. I no longer have access to test equipment so I'm trying to compare to "known standards".đ I've bought about 25 of these things now to spinkle around the house, cars, RV, boat, etc. What you'll probably find is that these flashlights mostly fail with an intermittant switch after a couple of battery changes. Long before the LEDs, case, or even the cheap O-rings fail. Are they worth it? To me they are, unless you need a Mag-baton.

A very handy pack of flashlights
I like the fact that these flashlights have both the normal flashlight lens that you can focus or widen the distribution of light for as well as a lamp feature for illuminating a larger area close up. They have a blinking feature for both that I don't need and is a bit annoying but I can click through that with no big problem. They're extremely handy to have at multiple places around the house and having a few spares is also worthwhile. So we keep one by the door in case we go out at night, and I have one on my dresser that we can use if we drop a pill. for example. (The pill can be much easier to find if you put the flashlight on the floor and slowly spin it. It will highlight the pills edge, making the pill stand out.) It also makes sense to keep one in the car's glove box.
