Make Sure You Really Want This
After trying these, I realized that they are too heavy for the kind of workouts (HIIT) that I'm doing, and need increment adjustment less than 10 lb per step. However, returning them costs a 20% RESTOCKING FEE plus (from NY state) $156 return UPS shipping. OUCH!! Very costly mistake. Next purchase won't be from Bayou Fitness.

Cheap mechanism easily broken
The mechanism that changes the weight is cracked in half and broken. The last picture is how it should look. It works on one side, at least...? Kinda assumed both sides would work for a while!

When I first desided to buy ajustable dumb bells one brand came to mind as they advertise ...
I spent about a month reading and checking out tube reviews on lots of brands and features. When I first desided to buy ajustable dumb bells one brand came to mind as they advertise on tv magazines and what not. but upon looking up Bflex I ran into two problems with that brand. that the ajustable wheel pin brakes and as a result the weights fell off and hit some people hurting them bad. Safety was my main concern and i decided to get something made of all metal with no plastic parts that could break and i end up a vegetable as a result. I must say these are outstanding. yes there is a little plastic in them but nothing of key importance nor something that can break and compromise safety the only plastic is the guides and what keeps the wights at the right even spaces. other that that the pin is metal and what holds the wights in place is actually a metal pipe that slices from one end to the other locking them in place. I have zero worries when am using these and can focus on training and not worrying is it going to land on my face on the next rep. I must say they look very nice too maybe not as high tech look as Bflex but a more robust manly look if that makes sense while still looking sleek and modern. Am very happy with my purchase and I know theses will last me a lifetime and more just keep them clean and a little oil on the pin once a year good to go.

Great Quality
These are great dumbbells. I am a small woman and was apprehensive about the 10lb adjustment increments, but I need dumbbells that go higher than the 25lbs offered by the other set sold by this manufacturer. I do as many other have suggested and add a plate only to one side to get adjustments in 5lbs increments. While the weight is unevenly distributed, it's not too difficult to adjust your grip to compensate. I have also used a plate alone without the bar when I need a 5lb weight. One other issue that requires some adjustment is that the width of the weight it quite a bit larger than standard single weight dumbbells. I think everyone will have to adjust to this, but it's particularly difficult when you are smaller. Ultimately, it doesn't detract from my experience. I would certainly make this investment again. The quality of the construction is great and NO MORE GYM!!!!

Adjustable dummy bells
Bought these as a pair for P90X3. Each dumbbell came packaged in it's own box and both of those in a bigger box. Outer box was beat to hell and almost falling apart when it was delivered, but I expected that of a 100lb shipment.Dumbbells overall feel like good quality. The adjustment pins on one of them had sticking issues when I got them. Solved that issue by applying some WD-40 to the sliding metal sleeve that holds the plates. Now it's buttery smooth. Weight adjustment is somewhat lacking as you can only use them in increments of 10 lbs (10,20,30,40,50). You could perhaps used them unbalanced to get increments of 5lbs.Also, like most adjustable dumbbells, these are very bulky in the hand so certain movements may be awkward or restricted. Overall, happy with them.

CRAP all day!!!!
Man...I thought those ppl writing about how brittle the material was we’re throwing these things around, but I was wrong! Got them yesterday, took them out of the box, and made sure the slide worked to change the weight. Then I picketed them up and curled once....and a damn piece fell out of it. Returning these things immediately!!!!! Trust me when I say, it takes nothing at all for them to break. Didn’t put them down hard, drop them or anything. They literally just broke

What the... Is this product for real?
Of all my years of weight training, from high school, college, and regular gyms, I have never seen anything of such quality and durability. This was a blind buy for me as I went solely on customer reviews, and oh man was everyone right! Thanks so much to all who had honest reviews. This is a no brainer to anyone who intends on getting some quality dumbbells. And to tell you the truth, I don't even have a problem with the 10 pound increments. Some people said they clanked, really people?! Do you plan on working out in dead silence? The clanking is the result of solid metal., go get plastic weights if this bothers you. Thank you, to whoever invented these!!!!

Difficult to operate - possibly due to self actualization...
The weigh selection pin on these weights can be very difficult to operate. The pin can become stuck, with no apparent reason for the obstruction. Moving the weight, shimmying the pin, and other techniques don't seem to work. It almost seems like the pin has a mind of it's own and will decide when it's good and ready to move. You can pull and push for minutes at a time, screaming at the top of your lungs, then finally for no reason at all the pin moves. But due to your complete rage state, rather than moving one slot like you intended, it careens to the complete other side in you intended direction, then gets stuck again.God help you if you want to switch from 20 to 30 pounds.I ended up buying the Bowflex 1090s and now just leave these at 40 or 50 pounds and use them when I super set. The Bowflex are SOOOO much better to operate. Plus they move in 5 rather than 10 pound increments.

Great but not perfect.
Great value for dollar, chaning weight is easy, just 2 complaints.1) if you have it on 50lb, like I need for shoulder press etc, the plastic base hangs on for dear life and will not easily let go of the weight.and it will take more then a flick to dislodge it, i have to hit my leg or the bench to make it "release" sorta hard...2) the pins that change weight get stuck, you pull up, and when you try to slide, it just wont, often leaving you to try upwards of 10 or 11 timesreseating the weight, etc. it has always eventually moved, but who knows how long thatll last. All in all, even with the sticking pin and base, id buy these again. So long as the pin never finds a "permanent" spot, these will do great.*** Bought 2 of these, same issue on both for both complaints.

I like
It's important to emphasize that it can be adjusted in 5 lb increments but that's by having something like 3 plates on one side and 2 on the other for 35 lbs, for example, so it's very unbalanced and not meant to be done this way (but still works and I still use it this way).Just realized that I didn't have to unscrew the knob every time I change weights; I can just lift it up and move it over to take weights off or secure weights on. I tend to not read instructions lol.

Visible rust, weight adjuster hard to move
The dumbbell I received had visible rust on the inside edge (not the shiny parts). You could only see this when the dumbbell is set to 10 pounds. Granted you're probably never gonna stick your fingers in there, it's still pretty disappointing see for a $200 item. In addition, one of the weight adjustment slider is always stuck. It takes a lot of effort just to get it moving and when it does, it doesn't land on the right weight setting.
