140 degrees setting is more like "simmer"
I had filtered my choices having in mind: highest wattage (1800) and lowest calibrated temperature. 140 degrees is the lowest setting of temperature control. I like 140 and less for poaching salmon and other dishes; and 1800 watts for searing, etc. My previous plate died only after many years of service (ALDI purchase for similar price. Its vulnerability seemed to be - water from the steam of the pan lid on the top surface could transfer steam -liquid to a joint and to the interior because of its 2-piece structure.)So I noticed that the 140 degree setting on the Baulia would be like "simmer" and depending on what you are expecting - Simmer would reduce the liquid somewhat; and perhaps toughen what you were expecting to "poach". ...I think it is a good value! It has a nice shiny one-piece top (water doesn't leak into mechanism) and I am getting used to the icon control panel. Since we had the other one so many years, I would have to learn on any new item.It delivers what I wanted with only one exception: actual temperature compared to what was selected. My husband used an instant-temp probe on his vat of chicken and black bean enchilada mixture. It registered 180 degrees on the 140 setting. I am still satisfied because I know this and as well, it is so quick and inexpensive.

Ok product
This cooktop has been a lifesaver, but it comes with some drawbacks. On the plus side, it does work. It heats up fast, boils water in 2 mins., and is very efficient. Doesn't take up much space at all.On the other hand the fan is quite loud at times. You will have to buy special induction compatible cookware. My cast iron pans heat up with it, but only a small space in the middle of the cast iron pan will be really hot. I have to cook in it like a Wok, other wise the food will burn. Doesn't matter what size cast iron pan is used or the temp setting, I get the same result. With induction compatible cook ware, the heat distribution is better but the majority of the heat generated comes from the small middle circle. No matter the pan or pot size. Which makes using a 10" pan imposible. Everything on the edges will be cool to cold while the middle is scorching hot.So, if you are only cooking for two and only use small pots and pans that are induction compatible, this is perfect. If you need it for larger pots or pans and want to use cast iron, look elsewhere.

Unresponsive
Mine performed the same as the video the other customer submitted. Plugged in, turned on, and the temp nor menu buttons worked. Runs, but that's it.

effectiveness
It is as I expected, very effective. Even if the under surface of your imperfect pan is not totally in contact with the cooker , it will be detected and heat by the cooker. Good thing

Works good.
The first thing I did was put my tea kettle on it. My water was wisling by the time I had the cup ready. I've used it for other cooking, definitely much faster.
