Hitler’s Rise and Fall: The Dark Charisma of Adolf Hitler

It's quite long which I was impressed with.

This is a fascinating and frightening look and one of the most evil individuals in the history of the world. Lawrence Rees writes, produced and narrated this documentary he's already done several documentaries for the BBC and is also a author of several books about World War II as well I have several of his documentaries on DVD in my collection and they're all excellent I highly recommend all of them including this one. How did it failed artist a pathetic loser become one of the most powerful and vile people who ever lived the answer to the question it's not as simple as some have made it to be unlike many dictators Hitler didn't seize power he was given it. Not just by the government of the time but by the people themselves the vast majority of them shared the same anti-Semitism and hate that he did. He did not hypnotized them they already wanted somebody like him circumstances happened like the worldwide great economic depression that helped launched him and his Nazi party to power. You have to wonder if it hadn't been for that if they ever would have come close just a few years earlier they had not even gotten 3% of the vote in a national election. In another DVD documentary of Rees the Nazis a warning from history which I also highly recommend he shows us that even when they became the number one party in the country as far as votes was concerned they almost collapsed the party was running out of money constantly fighting general elections and was nearly broke by the time Hitler was offered the chancellorship. This documentary shows that it would actually what's a joint relationship between the people and the dictator they chose that led the world to the greatest catastrophe in history six million Jews murdered in the Holocaust millions of others dead and tens of millions in the war that Hitler started it is unnerving but important history to watch and remember and it is superbly put together by Rees.

This 176-minute video is very much in the same vein as, and sometimes taken from, "The Nazis: A Warning from History." The focus is on the interaction between the masses and Hitler in creating the peculiar phenomenon of "Hitler's charisma," following the argument of Ian Kershaw in his Hitler biography. The frequent interspersions in color of Bavarian countryside and eerie music, which is also a feature of "The Nazis," seemed even more noticeable and distracting in this production than in "The Nazis." I bought this in the hope that it would be good as an optional, extra-credit film for a small class to illustrate particular aspects of an era, but its didactic tone is not very suitable for that purpose.

Excellent account of Germany melting done under one sciatic individual! Hard to believe so many people allowed it to happen. Sad stuff!

This series is 3 parts. Focus is on the Relationship of the German People with Hitler. His early successes's ensured that they believed in him...and loved him. Even during his failed attacks on Russia, his people still had faith in him. Because he had brought him Victory before.Documentary also shows the strange behavior he had with the people around him. And that he was a dreamer/visionary, and left the details for others to sort out. Ex: Himmler and the Jews.Documentary was a bit long. I fell asleep towards the end.Pre 1933, and 1933-1945. (i guess 25+ years, can feel long.)I much preferred watching "Hitler in Colour." 80 min. (5 stars)

Compré anteriormente "Apocalipsis: La Segunda Guerra Mundial" de Daniel Costelle (muy bueno) y pensé que este documental específico sobre Hitler, "El Oscuro Carisma...", ampliaría mi conocimiento sobre él, pero nada de eso ocurrió. Creo que "Apocalipsis" da inclusive más información sobre Hitler. En este documental se abusa de la palabra "carisma" y está sobrecargada de efectos visuales (la del fuego es la que más se repite). Si se ha comprado "Apocalipsis" no es necesario comprar "El Oscuro Carisma..."
