Thorogood American Heritage Boot, Black, 9. 5 D US

If you are in the market for this type of boot, (Thorogood, Redwing etc) then you know what to expect in regards to break in and quality. What you may not know is both boots, from my experience, run about 1 to 1 1/2 size smaller than your normal shoe. I typically wear a 10.5 - 11 depending on the brand but in Thorogoods I wear a 9.5. If at all possible, go to a place that sells them to try a pair on then buy from amazon to get your savings. The major difference between the two companies is, Thorogood puts an gell insole in the boot (which in my opinion is VERY comfortable and reduces the break in time) and Redwing does not. They opt for the natural footbed and let you break it in for a custom fit of your feet. That is all well and good but I dont like the long period it takes to get that break in I need right away. Being on my feet for hours right off the bat with the gel inserts was almost unnoticeable. I personally dont care for the brown laces or the white stitching so I swapped the laces out for black and used some black leather die to cover up the white stitching ( I dont like how they look grungy white after a few days of working around car parts etc) so I cut out the middle man and just turned them all black. Then added a small amount of boot oil and boom, done. Ive been wearing them non stop since I received them and they are pretty much broken in. Keep in mind the crape soles are going to get dirty if you are working around dirt and grime but that is part of the look if they are going to be work boots. If you are just wearing them as casual shoes, it shouldnt be too much of a problem. I love these boots for the price! Only real "complaint" is the hook style lace ups on the top 3 eyelets of the boots. But that is just me, I prefer the hole style so I dont have to relace every time I put them on but its definitely not a "problem".

I bought these boots as work boots in warm weather because they are unlined. It took 3 days of constant wear to break them in, and now they are one of the most comfortable boots I have ever put on my feet. I bought them as work boots, but they look so good I wear them as casual boots around town as well. Although not water proof, they keep out water quite well. I wore them while hosing down some muddy landscape rocks in the bed of a truck and they got pretty soaked in the process. But my feet stayed completely dry. I did not plan on wearing thick wool socks with them, so I ordered a half size down to wear with normal cotton socks and they fit perfectly. I would recommend these boots to anyone who wants a solid multipuprose boot.

I received these boots and it appears they were used. I noticed what looks like dog hair in the boots I pulled out the insole and they were dirty. I understand that things get returned and resold but please ensure the boots are ready for resale. When I spend $244 on a good pair of boots I expect new boots. Sorry I didn’t even try them on. The boot looked like a good quality boot but not what I ordered. I ordered new boots not used ones.

I fit well in to them , but have not wear them until ,I treat it w leather protector and stretch it for comfort .. good boot ,made well !
