Beekeepers Oxalic Acid Heavy Duty Vaporizer

This vaporizer works absolutely perfectly!I was able to walk out to the bee yard in the early evening so most of the bees are home, connect this to my lawn tractor battery for 2 minutes at a time.... disconnect the battery... wait 10 minutes more and then move on to the next hive and repeat.I tried it at 90 seconds, but there was still some Oxalic in the pan... so experimented until I found a complete vaporization at 120 seconds. I also carry a bamboo shishkabob stick to scrape out any residue between hives/treatments.The little measuring scoop is handy and I use a stopwatch rather than the included timer.The electrical cord is plenty long enough for me to stay well away from the vapors (upwind of course) and connect comfortably to the tractor. Since that treatment, I have purchased an emergency battery jump start kit and actually will use that for the Oxalic Vaporizer in the future.Sturdy, simple and effective, I can't imagine it being any better than this. I absolutely recommend it.

Damn the varroa mites! I have tried a few methods to lower the varroa mites and this unit worked well for me in a Technoset plastic hive. I used it in another plastic hive and could not insert the heated pan into the hive body, so I used it from under the hive. Does not seem to be as effective as I could not get a seal for the vapor to go inside the hive body. I have not tested the hives for about two months now, but I think this is a very effective way to knock the varroa mites down.

Very disappointed with product and price ! Mine “broke” on treating my 5th hive ! In other words, on day one of use the head of the tip burned, and does not heat up now. I used it as directed on a 12 v car battery. Not recommended.

I’ve only used this once so far, but it seems to be a very high quality item. It evaporated 1/2 tsp of oxalic acid in less than 2 minutes. It really works well. I used a small 12 volt lawnmower battery to power it. No problems.

Works great! Well engineered. The heat shield on the bottom helps to dissipates the heat. Mine came with a 2.5 cc plastic scoop and because of the density of Oxalic Acid (1.65) 1scoop holds 4 grams, not 2.5 grams.

We bought this vaporizer 3 years ago for use in our small apiary, 2-4 colonies average. We treat each colony 3 times with oxalic acid twice each year so the vaporizer had only been used at most maybe 50 times before the glow plug burn out. Not what we would expect from a high priced "heavy duty" vaporizer. We'll look elsewhere for our next one.

I evaluated several evaporators online. I choose this one. After arriving, I tested the unit and used the unit to treat two hives. The unit works perfectly! I am very happy with the fabrication, quality and performance of the unit.
