This is a reprinting of Albertus Seba's incredible Cabinet of Curiosities. A large, coffee table style book with page after page of vibrant, full-color, beautifully drawn animals, plants and other natural curiosities. If you are interested in the natural world, or you'd love to have your own "cabinet of curiosities", this is a must-have for your collection. And because it's from Taschen you can rest assured that it's a great reproduction of the original. I bought this book for myself, but both my young daughters love looking through the pages and it's def piqued their curiosity. From what I understand, other earlier pressing of this book sold for several hundred dollars, so the $30 price tag makes this even more irresistible. Do yourself a favor- buy this book, you will not be disappointed.

I have been wanting this book for a long time, but couldn't find an affordable copy. This edition is just gorgeous. There is an older edition that has a prettier cover, in my opinion, but this one is quite lovely for the reasonable price. This is a very large, heavy book. It's lovely on a coffee table where it's handy to through while enjoying your coffee, or you can do as I did and put it on a tabletop easel. It is, after all, like a work of art. It's easy spend hours enjoying all the interesting drawings inside. If you were in desperate need for some art for your walls, you could even (oh horrors!)cut up the book and frame some of these stunning pages. Well worth the money, I highly recommend this book.

I like this book, but I'm not totally wild about it. Something about the illustration style doesn't really do it for me. Still, I'm glad I have it. The images are large and captivating, and there's a nice variety of subject matter on display. The print quality is good, and the construction of the book itself feels good as well. I'd encourage aesthetically picky buyers to take a look at a few of the images before buying. I do wish it had a dust jacket, though, since the cover has a linen-like texture that seems like it will collect dust and get dingy over time.

I was very pleased with my purchase of this book. It is an oversized, heavy, well-bound book, with beautiful images. Being a long time admirer of the more expensive version, this more budget-friendly, condensed version did not disappoint. It contains all of the same images but instead of each image being a full page, some pages contain more than one image. The beauty and the information is not lost, there are many many full page images. I did not have issue with the coloration of the pages either. If you are buying the $25 version of this book expecting the $400 version of this book; you are setting yourself up for disappointment. If you are buying this book to add a beautiful book to your collection than you should be pleased!

This is a stunning book, a reprinting of Albertus Seba's Cabinet of Curiosities. The pages are adorned with all different kinds of animals, plants and other natural curiosities. The colors are vibrant and it is incredible to think that someone illustrated Seba's collection mainly by looking at skeletons and remains of plants and then brought them back to life on the page, imagining what they had looked like when they were living organisms. As someone who has studies Cabinets of Curiosities, this is a must have book for your shelf. It's a large book but you will find yourself going back to it often, to browse through the pages. There is a great introduction that talks about Seba and his collection.

This book was a gift for our 13 year old son who loves all things from the natural kingdom. Thumbing through the pages has prompted him to delve deeper into investigating many of the "curiosities" depicted in the book. He then shares with us points of interest he has learned. It's been a wonderful source of conversation for our family! I would even recommend the book for younger children as well. Having said that though, I also intend to purchase an additional copy for my eldery parents as well. It's just a great book.

Unique book, outstanding illustrations.

La historia del gabinete y sus ilustraciones son fascinantes. Es un libro bello y muy disfrutable,La impresión y el encuadernado son de muy buena calidad como la mayoría de los libros de Taschen.Es mi segunda copia para verlo con calma en una noche de relax.El primero lo tengo en mi mesa de centro para que mis visitas lo puedan admirar (y dejarle manchas de dedos) jejeje.Me llegó antes de lo esperado y en perfectas condiciones.

Um livro maravilhoso, superou minhas expectativas. Para quem gosta de Natureza e suas curiosidades, recomendo. Adorei os desenhos de Albertus Seba, parecem fotografias.

Los materiales de la portada y pasta del libro están resultan maravillosos, además de contener mucha información útil para la mayor parte de los campos de estudio de la vida :)

Beautiful book, very interesting read but I bought for the sole purpose of looking at the picture with the kids. I first saw this beauty at Pottery Barn where they were selling it for $250!!!!!!!! So glad I found it for a fraction of that.
