Wire-free mowing — even at the far end of the garden
Upgraded from a wired mower, and this has been a genuine step up in convenience. No boundary wires, reliable app control even at long range, and consistent cut quality. It handles my 770 m² lawn well, especially when split into zones — which also makes mowing more practical when rain is forecast.⸻Setup & MappingAvoiding boundary wire installation was the main reason I upgraded, and this mower has lived up to that promise.• Tip: Start with a temporary layout for the charging station and satellite receiver. Move them until you get the best signal coverage, then finalise.• Mapping the lawn through the app is straightforward and well guided. It took me two tries to get a perfect outline, but once set, the mower follows it reliably.⸻Performance in the GardenMy lawn is around 770 m², close to the rated maximum. In full automatic mode, a complete mow takes about 11 hours and three partial charges (15% → 80%).Splitting the lawn into smaller zones noticeably improves efficiency between charges. It’s also ideal when rain is forecast, letting you complete the garden in manageable sections rather than risking an unfinished full mow.Battery capacity is strong: a 200 m² zone per charge is achievable. The cut pattern is consistent, the finish tidy, and the mower reliably returns to base for charging.• App control: Works perfectly, even at the far end of the garden — no connection issues.• Edge cutting trick: Run the boundary close to a firm edge (like paving stones) for a tighter, cleaner cut along borders.⸻Build & DesignThe mower feels robust, the docking station is weather-ready, and the overall design shows thoughtful engineering. The app is responsive and stable, and firmware updates have installed smoothly, adding confidence for long-term support.⸻Pros & ConsPros• Wire-free boundary setup saves hours of work• Reliable app control and mapping• Handles large lawns with zone splitting• Consistent cut quality• Solid battery performanceCons– Full automatic mow on max lawn size still takes most of a day– Mapping requires a little trial and error– Edging depends on careful boundary placement⸻VerdictA strong choice for anyone wanting a capable, wire-free robotic mower that can manage a large garden with minimal fuss. With a bit of setup tweaking, it delivers excellent results and removes the hassle of boundary wires entirely.⸻Update Log• [3 months in]: Still cutting reliably; no issues with app range or mapping drift. Battery performance consistent.

Don't do business with Ecovacs
This robot is ok until it goes wrong. They do not have their own repair people here in the UK. I had a Goat 0800 RTKand apart from it getting stuck about once an hour and needing me to rescue it. I thought it was an OK gadget. Then, when it was only just 8 weeks old ,it went wrong and it stopped working with the message 'error 627 bumper triggered' and it would not move at all. So I called the customer support line which was not very helpful. They had me trying this and that but to no avail so they said I had to pack it up and they would send me a label to put on the box and they would arrange for DHL to collect it. Then after a week I received an email saying sorry the repair company has gone into receivership. and I would have to get in touch with DHL and ask them to get my parcel back and they would be sending me another label with an address of another repair company. That was the end I asked the Ecovacs customer service department to either give me my money back or give me a new robot. The repair company, now in receivership, is all locked up and the receivers can't be bothered to find somebodies parcel and arrange to send it back to them, why should they? Ecovacs said they would send a replacement robot but they haven't and they can't tell me when they will. The Moral of the story is as ever do not buy from China. By the way I bought it from Amazon but They can't help me because I sent it back to Ecovacs when it went wrong and not to them. So always work with the UK company. I paid £741.00 for 8 weeks lawn mowing!

Excellent for price and reliability
Although only one week in, extremely impressed with this robot mower, having tried a more expensive Mammotion.Handles multiple zones, gravel pathways between zones and obstacles really well, and always seems to know exactly where it is to near pinpoint accuracy, even in very low light. The RTK has great coverage too. It’s not 100% perfect and does get stuck occasionally in areas that I marked as out of bounds or struggles on obstacles, but usually manages to sort itself out with no manual intervention. The software is excellent and easy to use, and although support is a bit slow someone does respond. It is true it doesn’t come with a UK plug which is a shame, but easy and cheap to get adapters or weatherproof boxes and IMO worth it considering the price point and reliability of this robot when you can easily spend £2k+. This stops me from giving 5 stars.

Robust mower. Works well. Effortless.
Excellent mower. Purchased this one as they all look the same to me but this is a Which? Best Buy. I have 130 sq m lawn with some steep slopes. Handles it with ease. Cant see any grass clippings once its done either. Recommend.

Poor Support – Missing UK Plug and Unprofessional Response
The mower arrived with a EU plug and no UK 3-pin plug, making it unsafe and unusable out of the box in the UK. I contacted Ecovacs through their app but received no reply. It took a week to get a response via email, and even then, they did not accept responsibility or offer any apology—just sent me a link to purchase the correct plug separately.I spent around two hours installing the mower: locating best position, and bolting the RTK unit to a pergola, screwing down the charger on the patio, and running the cables neatly with clips—all assuming Ecovacs would rectify the plug issue. I even considered "biting the bullet" and paying £30 for the correct plug. But their dismissive attitude, even after I raised my consumer rights, gave me serious doubts about trusting them if something went wrong during the 3-year warranty.Their final email simply stated they were closing the case because I was returning the product—no apology, no accountability. A shame, as the mower looked promising, but Ecovacs' unprofessional support has completely put me off.

Good performance, no UK plug
Warning: Didn't come with UK plug and not much response from Evovacs support. Purchased an adapter for about £7.O800 RTKActually pretty impressed with the device overall. It cuts in lines. It cuts very well. Much better than my older Flymo 250. It also gets very close to the edges when it does the final edge cut. Really hugs the fence.Charging station is solid. It doesn't get stuck anywhere. Obstacle avoidance is a little patchy. It avoids anything that's tall easily, such as my solar stake lights. Sometimes it gets over zealous and avoids something that's simply overhanging.Unfortunately it is not able to avoid dog poo yet, but they seem to send updates to the device often so hoping for some updated detection algorithms.

Exceeded my expectation.
I was sceptical that a robot could manage my quote complex garden but the ecovac has convince me. Setting the perimeter was remarkably easy and I was able to creat two zones. The key point is that is navigates around obstacles within the perimeter with intelligence and means I don't have to tell it to avoid furniture, trees etc.I am surprised how fast the battery drains however and charging is slow. I note aftermarket larger capacity batteries @5500 are available.App also good and pretty easy to use.Overall I think the product is good for the price and I am satisfied.

Poor after sales support
I bought this product on the strength of a Which? magazine Best Buy. I think the product itself is well made and certainly has the power to power up and down my grassed bank. However, I have to question whether Which? ever made an assessment of after-sales support to give this unit a Best Buy. I believe the UK support telephone number is re-routed to somewhere in the Far East because my experience of dealing with customer support from this part of the world is that they sound as if they are talking under water and therefore very difficult to understand. Email support is available but it takes far too long for them to respond. I do not think that three working days is asking too much but it is for this company. They do not have the right tech support in place for a UK buyer and setting this product is not as simple as buying a couple of batteries for a torch. When this does not work, you need immediate support because the grass doesn't wait for you. I think Which? has a lot to answer for.
