Expensive lava lamp
This diffuser is easy to set up and works well, but I'm not crazy about the design. It looks very cheap (which is isn't)! and plasticky and when you have the light setting on the colours aren't exactly subtle. I guess it could look good in a very minimalist, white themed room though. So when it arrives you get the main body of the diffuser (which is in three parts) and two small boxes containing the plug and lead and two small bottles of essential oil (peppermint and orange). It's one of those build your own plugs with three different pin options. There's a very thick safety booklet (in many languages) and a small leaflet with pictorial instructions. I didn't think the instructions were very clear in terms of which part of the unit they were referring to (a diagram labelling the parts A, B, C etc would have been useful). I eventually worked out that you have to fill the reservoir with water to the level indicated (which I was a bit apprehensive about as the reservoir is just above the electric unit and there's a hole between the two!), place the plastic cap on top of the reservoir and then place the tall chimney like cover over the whole unit. Plug the lead into the mains and then switch on the two buttons - one for the jet of oil infused air and the other to get the light show started. As stated above, I though the colours of the lights were a bit gaudy - they revolve through a cycle of blue, green, orange, red, pink and purple, a bit like a lava lamp. I only put two small drops of the oil in (as instructed) but that was enough to give a subtle aroma. The orange fragrance was pleasant and not overly sweet. I haven't tried the peppermint yet.So overall this diffuser works well and has a pleasant fragrance, but I'm not sure it's worth the money.

Simple to use and safe.
This is a review for the Connect model. This is a very nice product that is safe and easy to use. The diffuser comes with the base unit, an adapter fitting plug with lengthy cable, with three clip in plugs adapters, for UK, EU and New Zealand, plug sockets and a little box with 2 small sample pots of essential oil, 2ml of sweet orange and 2ml of peppermint. To use, you fill the basin in the unit to the marked fill line, with cold water (this does not heat up or use hot water, so is very safe), then you add 6-7 drops of essential oil... you can use the samples provided to get you started, or you can purchase your own. Then you simply plug in the mains adapter once you have placed the diffuser where you want it and press the on button. When you turn it on, it gives off a continuous aromatic mist (depending on your chosen aroma, that is the scent you will have), or you can press the button again to produce an intermittent mist, that is off and on at 30 second intervals. Press and hold the button to turn it off.On continuous mode, the diffuser lasts up to 6.5 hours and on intermittent mode it will last up to double the time at 13 hours. There is a light mode also on this model and you press the light button to turn it on and it cycles through a rainbow of colours, which is very pretty, but if you prefer, you press the button again to stop it on the colour you want to leave it on, for example you can leave it on purple if you press the button when it changes to purple and so on. To turn off the light effects, you press and hold the light button until it goes off.Advice for cleaning is to wipe the unit inside with a soft damp cloth every 2 weeks, although I personally would wipe it each time you change the oil to a different scent, just to avoid scents mixing from any oil residue in the water basin.A great little diffuser, that is simple and safe to use.

Looks great, smell's even better!
I've looked at getting a diffuser before purely on the basis of the claims it helps put moisture back into the air, our house is all electric and the heaters dry the air way too much, this along with a toddler who suffers with eczema, isn't ideal. The diffuser came packaged in a brown coloured box, looks very much recycled which is nice. Inside you have the diffuser unit itself, a power adapter with UK, EU and USA plugs, a warranty book, short manual and 2 oil samples. I got Orange sweet and Peppermint. The diffuser is very light, not flimsy but light and looks well made. There are 3 parts to it, the main cover which is removed, inside theres a cap which sits on top of the water storage and then theres the main unit itself. Pouring water up to the max mark, you then add a few drops of the oil and replace the cap followed by the main cover. Then plugging it in you then have 2 buttons on the front to use, the left button is the power, pressing once puts it into continuous mode and it will last around 6 hours, pressing again is intermittent mode and it will last twice as long and then the last press of the button turns it off. The right button controls the light, pressing once will cycle all the colours continuously and then pressing again will stay what ever the chosen colour is, last press turns it off.The diffuser works great so far, the smell was lovely and subtle enough to not over power a small living room but it had enough about it to smell the aroma when you entered. The long time effects i'm unsure about, it's way too soon to see if it makes a difference and with it being summer, the heaters are off and the air humid, winter we will see if it can help, but overall i'm happy with it.

Lovely smells
This is a nice diffuser which has a very elegant look to it. It’s a reasonable size too so it doesn’t look too much of an eyesore like similar products can.It comes with a couple of oil samples which both smell lovely and are dispersed well.It is slightly more expensive than other products but worth it.

Subtle scenting
Not the prettiest of diffusers, its entirely m ade of white plastic and is a rather odd shape, but it works well. Theres only one intensity of mist, some I've used have vriable output, which doe sseem to get the scent around the room more quickly. I found the Homedics Connect took a fair while to produce enough scent to be noticeable, and despite the claims it probably wont make muchof a humidifiing effect, but the colour changing light is pretty and as a gentle background fragrance it's fine.
