Stuhrling Superior!
This is another excellent offering by Stuhrling. Sturhrling has been quietly making strides in the lower price range for years and this watch is a great example of their philosophy. Anyway, the Stuhrling 'Prestige.' is devoted to their high end products, and these tend to possess 'Swiss' movements. Now, the term 'Swiss' is used rather loosely because many of the movements in these watches are really Sea-Gull Chinese movements that were simply assembled in Switzerland. Having said that, this watch is adorned with the 'Swiss Made' moniker because it meets the requirements set forth to make that claim. However you look at it, Sea-Gull makes some outstanding movements in their own right, and this watch keeps excellent time. The watch packaging is simply over the top and you will not have any doubt regarding Stuhrling's intention to separate their Prestige line from the rest of the pack. In fact, my wife joked that the box was the size of a shoe box, and I tend to agree as it's probably the largest packaging that I've seen on a watch, with the possible exception of some of the Invicta Diver watches that came in a plastic SCUBA tank 2-3 years before. Opening the humungous box, I found the watch to be very well-protected with a thick plastic ant-scratch material that took a minute or two to cut away from the watch. As for the watch itself, the face is a bit larger than some of the diver's watches but I would say it's not so big that it stands away from the crowd, and falls more in-line with newer models that are trending toward a larger dial surface area. The dial markers are very clear and striking against the deep blue shimmering pearl dial face. The color of the hour and minute hands is the same as the dial markers, and reflect the color or the luminescent material with which they are coated. One notable feature that many older gentlemen may appreciate is that the numbers and letters on the day-date window are actually distinguishable without a magnifying window, and even if you aren't blind as a bat like me, it's still nice that you can get that information in a quick glance. The finish on the dial face is superb, as one may come to expect from such a fine timepiece. The soft green glow of the lume is a bit above average for this price range, and can still be seen while resting on a shelf about 10 feet from my bed two hours after laying down for the night. The case is a brushed stainless steel, well-finished and contains no rough edges. All numbers align OK with the window on the dial, with only the slightest off-center orientation. As for the band, it is super sturdy and thick, which one could expect from a good diver's watch. There is no play in the attachment points for the band to the case, and the clasp is nice and beefy, as you might expect to see on a higher end model. The double closure and release buttons function well from the factory, and open neither easily or stubbornly. As my diving days are long gone, I honestly cannot vouch for Stuhrling's claimed depth rating, but my watch has so far seen rigorous duty while washing dishes in the kitchen sink, and is holding up very well.In summary, this is an outstanding diver watch and if it were offered for double the price I paid for it, it would still be an excellent buy. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this watch to anyone looking for a great diver for less than $200. If Stuhrling is looking to go upscale in their line, this watch is a step in the right direction.

A TOTAL DISASTER
Believe it or not I just sent back the 4th Stuhrling watch in the past two weeks I purchased on Amazon. The first 3 were from Amazon direct and the 4th was from an Amazon sponsored 3rd party distributer. NOT ONE OF THEM WORKED ! The first 3 were Stuhrling " Original " brand . I found out later these watches are made in China and are real pieces of junk....unfortunately I found out the hard way.I decided to kick it up a notch after finding out the Stuhrling " Prestige" brand was actually " Swiss made". I just got it yesterday and was absolutely floored when it did not work ! ! ! OK ...now you can call me stupid.Shame on Amazon for sending me 3 defective watches in 8 days as well as a 4th defective one from one of their 3rd party vendors. Very costly for them and a total disaster for me . Wouldn't you think after shipping the first defective watch they would at least have checked the 2nd one to see if it worked.....especially when I specifically asked them to make sure it worked before they shipped it.Poor Max Stuhrling, he must be rolling over in his grave . Stuhrling rose to be one of the best Swiss watch companies in the world after he started producing watches over 150 years ago.By the way I have still not recieved a response from my email to Stuhrling from over a week ago. Sorry Max, your customer service has gone to H E double tooth picks as well.

Nice looking timepeace
I have been looking at this watch for several months now and finally pulled the trigger. I have received several positivecomments with this watch. The watch is very easy to read and the rich blue face gives this watch a very attractive appearance for any wardrobe you have on. Nice watch for under $200.00.

This watch is like a really hot girlfriend with a few faults that i can overlooked. BUT DON"T she'll break your heart.
UPDATE: Two weeks in the watch has taken in water. I guess I should have known this would happened but it still hurts. Totally PO'd and have no faith in Stuhrling's customer service. I normally buy automatic dive watches but... I fell in love with the blue color of this watch. I was not too surprised that when the watch arrived it was... you guessed it... dead. I've read some of the other reviews and was pretty much expecting as much since this is an older model and for some reason Sturhling must pack their watches with the battery engaged. I just so happen to be going to bring my wife's watches to get some batteries that day so after the new battery install the watch worked perfectly. There is that annoying second hand slightly off from the markers thing that has been mentioned in other reviews. I'm not that picky and at this price I am willing to over look it. The watch itself is beautiful and does make a show on the wrist. The color scheme of the watch is very unique and for that I give Sturhling designers kudos. Not too flashy (i.e. some Invictas and Androids) yet not common either. The band is pretty sturdy and looks good with it's fully brushed top and polished only on the side of the links and watch case. The bezel moves well and has about 45 clicks to make it around the dial which is not 60 but oh well. The lume is good on the hour and second hands and less so on the hour marks and 6 and 12 but passable. It does have a screw down crown so I do believe the water resistant rating but since I don't dive will only be swimming or showering... maybe... with the watch. So far no problems and I'm about a week or two wearing it pretty consistently. The Ronda 515 keeps time well but I guess it takes getting used to the quarts movement which seems toy-like after wearing automatics pretty consistently over the years. Over all I'm happy with the purchase because it's a handsome son of gun. I would take away 2 starts for the watch being dead on arrival and the second hand off center issue but would add a start because it looks so good.

He was very impressed and liked the weight and size
I purchased this watch as a Christmas gift for my husband. It arrived a few weeks ago, and because he knew he was getting it, I let him look at it. He was very impressed and liked the weight and size. He set the time....and then noticed that the watch did not work. As soon as we got home we went through the return process and we received a new one a week later. The second one did not work either, so now we are going through the return process again. We are not too happy about this and therefore we are giving this watch a poor rating. It is a beautiful watch....but it is no good if it does not work!!!!

Really disappointed in the quality
Battery was dead when watch received. Sent it back to Amazon for refund. The box was really expensive looking. Wish Stuhrling would have used higher quality batteries instead of expensive packaging. Really disappointed in the quality. Will stick with Citizen watches in the future.
