Use this book with ARRLโs Online Exam Review for Ham Radio to review the study material chapter by chapter. Take randomly generated practice exams using questions from the actual examination pool. You wonโt have any surprises on exam day! Review: Great book if it's your learning style! - Everyone learns differently. Book...videos..classroom...find what works. I found this book really easy to learn and dominate the exam. Using their online site, You can read chapter one, then review exam questions from chapter one. Practice those everyday, and then move to chapter two and repeat. By the end of the book and daily testing myself with the chapter tests, I was able to walk in and pass the exam 100% without hardly thinking. The book tends to give more information than needed, sometimes an entire page. BUT this is good because in my opinion, the idea is to give you the material needed to pass...once you pass ( Face it, You'll pass by remembering answers ) The book is a great reference to come back to as needed. 10/10 for me, easiest test I did, and I was horrible with tests in school! Review: If you've bought the radio, you need to get the license. This will get you there. - Nearly done with my first reading of the book. My intent was to read it through to get the lay of the land and then re-read using the sample quizzes in the back (actual quiz questions chosen from a large set of possible questions) until I feel confident of passing the first time through (the nearest testing center is about an hour's drive away). There is a LOT to learn about the topic, but it has been chopped up into easy to digest pieces. There is also much additional material available at no extra charge on the ARRL web site if something isn't immediately clear OR if you just want to dig deeper. I would suggest that you have a radio available to follow along with some of the features (common to nearly all HAM radios) mentioned. I think that if you buy this book, work the examples and simply pay attention to what you are being told, there is a very real chance you will pass the Technician class exam on your first go-around.

The Gold Standard
If you're going to get your ham radio Technician license, this is the gold standard textbook. All of the detailed information you need in bite-sized chunks is there with lots of illustrations and tables to make it all clear and easy to understand. In fact, there's lots more there than what you need to pass the test so it's staying on my shelf as a great reference. I like the spiral bound version better than the normal binding version because it sits flat on my desk. Finally, it comes with all of the possible test questions (and their answers!) in an appendix in the back. How cool is that!?

New and improved. The right manual for the prospective licensee.
I've been a radio amateur for over 60 years and have helped many people pass their entry-level license exams. My advice is always to learn the material rather than memorize potential answers. That way the student can not only to pass the first exam, but will have a foundation of understanding to pass the subsequent upgrade exam(s) and to more fully enjoy the hobby. This manual facilitates that process, whether in an organized class (recommended) or as DIY. ARRL is the national organization for amateur radio and this manual is the product of the excellent talent in that organization. The spiral bound version makes it easy to flip around between sections.

Excellent resource for your Ham radio test
I purchased this to study for my Technician exam. The book is mostly very thorough, but occasionally you will have to go to the ARRL website for a more in-depth explanation of some topics. I read through the book one time, highlighting the questions and answer, along with other important information. Along with the practice tests available on the ARRL website, I easily passed my licensing exam on the first try. I highly recommend this!!

Great way to learn amateur radio, for a great price.
I almost bought this book on the ARRL website. It was cheaper here even before shipping was added in on the ARRL website, and shipping with Amazon Prime was free. It arrived in 1 day. I was able to start reading it the day after I order it! The spiral binding is great. It makes it easy to study and make notes without having to hold the book open. The information contained within and the layout are great as well. I am learning a lot and I definitely recommend this book for anyone who wants to earn a Technician license.

If you want to obtain the Technician's Ham License this is all you need
This book has two distinct sections. Nine chapters introduce the reader to Ham Radio. There is a lot of information, so it's daunting to work through. However, the second section is a list of every question from which the 35-questions on your exam will come from. Working through that question bank, referring back to the chapters for answers, and *particularly* using the online practice exams, which you can do over and over, will prepare you well for the exam.
