Great side dish
I use Laxmi Chana Dal as a side dish. The flavor reminds me of green peas but the color is much like yellow corn. Adds color to a meal.

A good brand
Daal chana is one of the main lentins of Indian cuisine. I have been buying this brand for last couple of years and have found really good. I am a regular customer.

They don't taste bad, just neutral
These beans are sort of flavorless. They don't taste bad, just neutral. They do add kind of a meatiness to a veggie soup, a chewiness, so I am using them, it does make the soup better. But is is not like using regular beans or split peas, which add a load of flavor, when you make a pea soup or bean soup. If you don't want the carbs of regular beans, then these are good for a substitute, but not as good as the real thing.
