I could not be happier with my purchase. 100% recommended anyone considering a lawn sweeper buy this product. Product is easy to assemble and use, durable, efficient and very effective, and now a staple addition to my at-home lawn and yard maintenance. Scott’s Lawn Sweeper is a great alternative to removing leaves on my lawn: easy to assemble, durable, effective in collecting leaves, easy to use, quiet. Adjusting the height of the sweeper is effortless, and important to the effectiveness and efficiency of removing leaves. I’ve found it most effective when I use in a straight line pattern. After the first line, I will push the sweeper over approx. 1/4 of the last line clear of leaves as this ensures the next line in pattern sends leaves into the catcher so any leaves not caught in the basket are sent to the next successive line and not the last cleaned line. 95 - 100% of leaves are removed from lawn when used in this manner. I keep a tarp nearby to empty the basket so moving to our curb for pick-up is more efficient. I would buy this product over and over again. Because it is so easy to use, it can be used several times a week to quickly maintain a leaf free lawn in a matter of 5 - 15 minutes depending on the size of your lawn. Each of my neighbors have commented on how great our lawn looks, and have asked about the brand, model and where to buy. 5 Stars all around. Would be a plus if the basket had taller sides and a larger capacity, but doesn’t change my review and I still recommend purchasing this product. There are zero cons to this sweeper from my experience and perspective.

I've got Bermuda in the front yard, Zoysia in the back. The Zoysia is super thick on the flat part of my yard while thinner on the hill. Same with Bermuda. I have various types of trees as well (Oak, Maple, Pine, and others). All have varying sizes of leaves and needles. I felt my yard was a good use-case for this sweeper, given the variance I have. I wanted to preface with that as, from what I found using this for the first time, that you will need to alter the height depending on the thickness and height of the grass. I originally thought it should be low, where the bristles go into the grass to fling everything. Unfortunately, that just binds it up to the point you can't push it, regardless of the angle you hold it at. What I also found was it wasn't allowing the leaves to go under the front guard, instead just pushing them out in front. Once I adjusted the height to have the bristles just above the grass, that's where this thing started working its magic. I absolutely hate raking and I refuse to maintain a gas blower. It's not about the emissions, it's more about the carb on those things constantly getting clogged or failing. I've had a couple, and they all suck unless used daily (punny!). I've got an electric Ryobi blower to clear off the driveway and deck, but outside of that it's not much use on leaves in grass. Since I have so many trees that are mature (Oak is about 50ft tall), it made sense to look at a different solution than just raking, where it was taking hours to just complete that one chore. I took a shot on this sweeper, and after the first pass in my yard it cleaned it up pretty well! I do have to fidget with the height, which will vary depending on the flatness of your lawn. Not the grass level, but the soil level. I have some dips and divots that are overlooked by this on first pass because it's set too high. Other areas were set too low. It wasn't constant, but enough to discuss. I'd love to see some type of suspension that takes care of this, but you won't get that with this sweeper (fixed axle) or at this price. It flings everything I want into the basket, but does miss some depending on how fast I was going (faster = less accurate). One sweep and it was a world of difference. I wasn't fretting about the few leaves it left behind, as that's expected even when raking. This just took the hard work out of it and sped up the process significantly, where I just took a break from work and knocked out part of the yard for 15 minutes. Couldn't do that with raking (I would also have been a sweaty mess too). The sweeper also picked up pine cones, small branches, and needles. This was welcome, as my front yard is primarily old pines that drop a lot of needles and cones that I like to push into the beds. I can now run this sweeper, get up the needles and cones, then just pour it in the beds versus discarding. I give it 4 out of 5 because of the height adjustment. If not a suspension to handle the variations in soil depth, having a way to adjust the height on the fly from the main handle would be great. Like a brake lever or wheel I could spin. I also want to point out that the collection bag is great, but it's also large...so large that it doesn't fit in a paper yard waste bag to empty easily. If you use a larger bag than those standard ones you get from HD or Lowes, then you should be fine. I just couldn't find a good angle where I didn't spill leaves, then have to re-sweep. Final thought: pick up your dog leavings PRIOR TO using the sweeper. I was flinging poo like a chimpanzee before I thought to grab the scooper.

Instructions to assemble were the WORST. I have assembled about 50 products from tools, shelves, furniture, electronics, and more-this was easy but you really need to use your logic as the assembled pictures were terrible and explanation was poor. After 30 minutes of swearing and sweating I got it together. It is so cheaply made that it feels like it will break at any second. The bag could be much bigger -whoever designed this ‘wide’ sweeper could have added about seven or eight inches of height to the bag easily. It doesn’t pick up leaves very well. Have not tried it in lawn waste as I might send it back. Wheels are hard plastic as well as the base. This should cost about half of what they charge. Overpriced to say the least. I expected much more from Scott’s. I should have bought an off brand as they look heavier duty than this piece of junk. Boo to this. Also, I used it two times and the plastic piece that holds the basket together. Which shouldn’t be a plastic piece whatsoever, but you can see from other people‘s reviews that it completely broke. I’m very gentle on my tools and I have to say this is one of the worst things I’ve ever purchased. It barely picks up anything, it’s cheaply made, the areas that are mostly plastic could at least have metal or some type of heavier duty plastic. This is literally the worst lawn tool I’ve ever purchased and it was not cheap. I bought a works GT blower vacuum cheaper than this. This item should be completely revamped and about a third of the price. Try not to buy this and definitely look for a heavier duty or a quality sweeper. I mean this brand’s been around for at least 30 or 40 years and they have made something as crappy as this at such a high price. Very, very sad and very disappointed.

I purchased a Scott product figuring the name brand would translate to better quality. Not really. Sweeper is kind of flimsy, but if you're careful, it does work well. This is better suited to a light covering of leaves. Don't think that you can wait until all your leaves fall then you can use this to pick them up in a few passes. Also, the hopper bag is held together with some plastic pieces that are very fragile and should have been made from milled aluminum. I was using my leaf blower vac to suck out the contents for mulching and bagging, and I bumped the edge of the hopper and it broke one of these little plastic bits, and I didn't even hit it that hard. I was able to use bailing wire to get it back together enough to finish the project, but you can no longer take the hopper in and out. Stock replacements are $16 plus S&H. Also, the hopper does not hold very much, and you will need to make a LOT of stops to empty it. On the upside, I did buy this because my shoulders are wrecked from a career in the trades, and raking kills me every year, and this was quite a bit easier on my body and also quite a bit faster than raking and bagging by hand. I have 11 trees on my property, and in the past that has equated to about 24 straight hours of raking, and about 60 paper lawn debris bags stuffed tight. RIght now I'm about 80% done after only 8 hours, and with the mulcher vac, have compacted my work so far into 11 bags.

It's rare that a product performs "as expected." This one ticks all the boxes. Assembly was a piece of cake, and when put together properly it's sturdy and doesn't wobble at all. The brushes sweep the full length of the device. Height adjustment is smooth. The hopper is easy to put on and take off. It's easy to push - just make sure you rotate it forward a bit so the support legs are not dragging in the grass. I'm terribly pleased with how this sweeper performs. For the price I paid, it does exactly what I hoped it would. A couple of caveats, but these have nothing do with the quality of the sweeper. 1) The device works best on flat lawns. Don't expect flat brushes to dip down into uneven places or chuckholes on your lawn. Duh. This is physics. The sweeper will work best if you work a checkerboard pattern on your lawn to pick up missed places. 2) It's not a vacuum. It will not leave a pristine swath of "unleafed" grass in its wake. But it will pick up the vast majority of your leaves and drop them into the hopper, saving you the trouble of raking most of them them and picking up the piles. 3) You'll get the best result if you use this tool in conjunction with raking and/or leaf blowing. Use it as it is designed, and you'll save yourself a ton of work. 4) We live in Florida with a lot of live oaks on our property. Beware of Spanish moss - it will jug up your brushes just like threads or yarn on a vacuum beater. Again, duh. Just keep the brushes clear of things that might get wrapped up in them. 5) It goes without saying that it's not designed to work well on wet or sodden leaves. Wait until they are dry. Overall a superbly-designed, functional product at a very reasonable price.

This is a somewhat difficult product to review. I think the rating is very dependent on the specific context and objective you have in using the leaf sweeper. I'll start by saying that if you have 1) a relatively small lot, 2) light leaf coverage (single-layer, not 100% covered) and 3) few twigs, this would probably warrant 4 stars. But then again, if that were the case, I'd probably just use a rake. My main review (and what I based my rating on) is going to be for the following situation: - Moderate-sized yard (about 70' x 80x) - Very heavy leaf coverage (complete blanket, 1-2” deep) - A lot of twigs and small branches Assembly There are not a lot of pieces to put together which is a plus. However, I found the instructions difficult to follow. I’ll take half the blame on that. I generally struggle with black and white line drawings in any type of assembly instructions. I had to play around quite bit with the legs and look at the picture on the front of the box (rather than the instructions) to figure out how they were supposed to attach. Once I did, the instructions made perfect sense. But the instructions themself did not help me orient the pieces. Again, this could be my spatial processing limitations with these types of directions. Construction In general, the entire sweeper feels flimsy. I keep thinking that the wheel is going to break off any time I bump into something. As I push it, I feel the frame wobble from side to side. There are two sets of plastic channels that don’t really hold their contents in place very well. The first is where the leaf catcher bag’s frame connects to the cross bar. The second is where the cross bar connects to the frame of the sweeper. Both pop off quite a bit. The crossbar is made to pop off since you must remove it to dump the leaves. However, it pops off even when I wasn’t trying to remove it. Similarly, the frame of the leaf catcher bag popped off the crossbar almost every time I removed it. This is despite having it “snapped” into place and aligned as per the instructions. I solved both problems with zip ties. However, that means I can no longer remove the leaf catcher bag from the sweeper. As it turns out, that’s not actually a bad thing (more about that later). The most frustrating thing in terms of materials was that the plastic piece that connected the two sides of the leaf catcher. It broke the first time I removed the catcher to dump the leaves. This is a part that is going to have to take a lot of pressure given its location and purpose. It doesn’t seem to be made well. Operation This is where I was most disappointed. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but the leaf sweeper really didn’t perform well. On the plus side, it’s very lightweight. So, it’s easy to push. The amount of effort varied between something like a walk-behind fertilizer spreader and a small gas mower. It’s easy to push. Also, compared to raking, I had much less stress on my arms, shoulders, and back. This was important for me. Due to a shoulder injury, I cannot rake for a long period of time. The leaf sweeper did not aggravate my shoulder in any way. However, there is a performance and productivity trade-off. The description says that it picks up 80% of the leaves in the first pass. This was only true in areas with very light leaf coverage. In my case, it took 3-4 one-way passes, on average, to clear a 70’ long strip. Additionally, the leaf catcher bag required me to empty it after every two passes. It was also very clunky to remove the leaf catcher bag. There are two small plastic pins that hold it in place. However, the pins extend to the very edge (perhaps a bit further) of the sweeper. When put the bag back in, I had to jockey it around to get it to sit properly. I wound up just zip tying the leaf bag catcher to the frame of the sweeper. This solved the earlier problem of pieces popping out of their channel. I also found that it was faster and easier to just lift the entire sweeper up and turn it over to dump it. Between the multiple passes and constant emptying, it took considerably longer than with a rake. Finally, the sweeper does not handle twigs well. This is less an indictment of this product. It’s true of any sweeper that uses a rotating brush. The brush is vulnerable to any twig that is longer than the radius of the sweeper brush. I had to stop quite often to pull twigs out. Overall, this product seems to be optimized for a very light workload. For me, that wasn’t sufficient. But for others, especially people who are looking for less strain on their neck, shoulders, and arms, it might help.

I got this product about a week ago, and so far I love it! It picks up all sorts of things, but by far my favorite thing about it is how it picks up small debris and things like sweet-gum seeds. I have a sweet-gum tree in my back yard, and if you have ever seen sweet-gum seeds, you how it can make your yard unusable. It didn't pick up all of the sweet-gum seeds, but it did a heck of a job with the recently fallen ones. I think the ones it didn't pick up looked pretty heavily lodged in my lawn. You cant win all your battles! I had to sweep over some spots more than once, but that's a small price to pay for a product that saves me from having to pick up each seed separately. It's not perfect, but for the price it can't be beat! The assembly isn't hard either. It's actually easier to do than the manual makes it look which is odd I guess. I do wish the bag was bit bigger though. If you have a messy yard like mine you'll have to empty it a few times.

I read several reviews of the Scott's Sweeper and AF before buying the Scott's. They seem very similar but the Scott's was much cheaper and some reviews said it can sweep cut grass. We have a large, mostly flat yard in South Dakota. For the first use, we had a really nice day with low wind and the leaves were dry. Normally we rake leaves into piles, then vacuum them in order to chop them small and fill the yard waste bin better. We still have to rake where the leaves are thickest, directly under the trees, because the sweeper just pushes the leaves around. But in the spaces between the trees where the leaves aren't so dense, and in the front where we get fewer leaves, the sweeper worked great. Yes, it throws some leaves out but most go into the hopper. I'm content to have some leaves still on the yard. It's good fertilizer and it's important for a lot of insects to survive the winter. If you expect the sweeper to sweep your yard clean and immaculate, you may be disappointed. Setting the brush depth: Late in the season our grass is thicker and taller in some places. I found that I could set the brush depth knob, and as I moved into thicker or thinner grass, I could raise or lower the handle in back as I pushed and that seemed to adjust the brush depth on the go. The sweeper takes a few minutes to get the hang of it. At first I pushed it just like I push the mower and it didn't work well. But you quickly figure out how to handle it and it does a decent job. To empty it, I pick the whole thing up and turn it over the leaf pile - super easy. It would be difficult to dump it into a bin or bags. The sweeper is nearly all light-weight plastic and but seems sturdy. I'm not worried about parts breaking. I wouldn't use it on a bitterly cold day - not sure how the plastic parts would hold up in the cold. I'm satisfied and would recommend the Scott's.

Love this. Was so easy to use, picks up about 90% of the leaves. So much better than raking. And we have a lot of leaves to bag up. Usually get approx 25 bags.

Arrived late, not good quality, flimsy and low quality materials used, wheels are the worst, look like child toy, u really have to push hard, requires at least 2-3 passes to clean, not worth the cost, not recommended

Very simple to assemble. Pine cones are a challenge but this does a fairly good job
